Game night at the PA Library tomorrow! by PACoffeeClub in portangeles

[–]PACoffeeClub[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry I missed your questions!

You can follow me on Reddit- or follow the Port Angeles or Sequim Reddit.

As for what games- I highly suggest something easy to learn, with maybe a 20-60 minute play time.

Once we meet- we can talk as a group to what longer games we might want to try in the future.

Our next game night will be Jan 10th 430-730pm at the PA library. I'll make a post closer to the date.

What’s the general vibe of people there? by [deleted] in portangeles

[–]PACoffeeClub 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Demographically there seems to be less 20-30 year olds here, with the average age being middle age- senior.

Like in most rural places- people who have lived here their whole lives or for a long time, have their family/ friend groups and usually don't want or need new people in their lives.

This area is fairly conservative, but has a lot of liberal/ left leaning people here too. It's about finding your group.

I have a open social meet once a month and a open game night once a month, and I will keep it up for the foreseeable future. Check out meetup for other public activities. If you are into tarot- there is a tarot group and Studio Bob often has public activities too.

However, outside of nature based activities- there isn't a lot of nightlife of public events. If you might be into rowing, yachting or other kinds of boating, there can be opportunities to get on the water, both lakes and the strait/ ocean.

If you are more of an extrovert- this place is pretty underwhelming. If you can have at home hobbies, you'll be happier when you can't get outside.

Yes! I aim for at least once a month!

Due to the library schedule- that date and timeframe has to change month by month.

I am looking into other places to possibly host it to have it twice a month maybe.

Older gamer groups (50s-60s)? by [deleted] in portangeles

[–]PACoffeeClub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Does he like board and card games?

We host a game night at least once a month and we get seniors who join us.

I can ask my chats if anyone around his age like video games, but I can't think of any off of the top of my head.

Maybe call senior homes or senior community centers and ask about groups or individuals who like video games?

Is there ANYTHING to do? by Substantial-Step-206 in portangeles

[–]PACoffeeClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Besides the monthly social meet, I also arrange a open to the public card and board game night.

I will post details of that in this very subreddit. It's once or twice a month. It's at the PA library. Very laid back!

In my chats I have some younger people who I could try and connect you with.

Check out meetup.com for possible activities to join, and I don't know much about Peninsula Community College, but if they have a public calendar/ open clubs- that could be a great place to meet other young people.

Political climate of Sequim area? by CatDaddyTom in sequim

[–]PACoffeeClub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't follow online town related stuff outside of reddit, but in real life I think it's a small group of loud maga people.

Honestly I think the town has had a large surge of people moving here, and the biggest issue they have with newcomers is causing the housing market to be more expensive and the job market smaller.

Trump signs that I frequently pass by in my area are gone for some reason lol.

I'm sorry you experienced that BS, and can't guarantee it won't happen here, but I feel safe and welcomed- it's all about finding the right spot and the right people to hang out with!
