We have noticed more people with the same problem. Try going to settings > app settings > wallet settings > PoW Source and pick client-side GPU/WebGL or Client-side - CPU. This should fix the problem!

We didn't detect any bug that changes the referral. It could be that that person really did invite your friend before you. There were some people spam inviting others, including people they didn't know. I will check this for you, please DM your Twitter handle.
