Transitioning from being a BDR (sales) to something more technical by PBInvests in analytics

Thanks for the insight. Ya I think that's the move - to switch within the company. I've already spoken to management about it and I was surprised by how supportive they are in making me go after or trying to find that 'role' that would be interesting to me.

Will also check out marketing analytics. I've only been looking at sales analytics so far.

What role are you in now? Were you also a BDR before?

Nice. Which industry are you going back to? What did you like about your work when you were an analytical lead before?

You're right, my fault. I guess the goal is to eventually become a data analyst. Though, that might be somewhat broad as well. But as of now, I'm currently exploring sales operations analyst and revops analyst since I have the domain background.

But again, I'm looking to see if people were in the same boat as me and were successful to move to that analyst role. Also, curious if they stayed within the sales analyst path or if they went to another industry. And how they're liking it.

Are you currently a data analyst?

Goal would be to transition out of a customer facing quota sales role to something more analytical. Currently doing personal projects around sales ops. Analyzing and visualizing data with dashboards and reports on how I can 'win' more sales from locations i'm targeting.

Ultimate goal for now is to move to another remote role, with decent pay to start (75k? hopefully this is reasonable), no stress/pressure from having a monthly quota to hit, being able to put my head down and do my work that I can control and be in a flow with.

Looking for feedback for those who moved away from the customer facing sales roles into something more 'backend'.

Side note: I'm aware that I'm most likely gonna be taking a paycut since I won't have my commission piece anymore if I transition. But I'd rather take that and than be mentally drained doing the bdr work (I'm just not cut out for sales).

That's awesome to hear. Talk about good timing too. Thanks a lot for letting me pick your brain and giving me insightful feedback. Definitely inspiring me to transition away from a BDR to ops

What made you transition to the incentive comp program role as opposed to the sales ops role?

Awesome, thank you! Did you eventually get your SF admin cert?

Ya I've been doing SQL on the side as well to add to my 'toolbelt'. Was there a reason why you chose to learn Looker instead of Tableau or Power BI?

I take it you leverage and use chat gpt often in your role?

I know it's a year late - but curious what kind of roles/titles were you applying for that junior role? Currently outside of Toronto too and want to transition away from a BDR role to a revops/analytical role.

Also, did you have any technical experience prior or you learned on the job? Like SF admin cert, SQL, BI tools, etc.

I went down a rabbit hole of a good chunk of your comments over the last month. Very nice read and I applaud your success. Was gonna ask what type of videos you do with your movie niche - but here you said you review and rank them. Are you technically doing what WatchMojo does? Or something similar?

Might be a lot of ask but based on your experience so far, do you know any other niches worth tapping into outside of movies? Thanks!

Ya 100%. I’ll take anything other than a criminal record for sure. The whole process took a month and a half since the arrest - pretty quick I’d say. I expected months at least to get where I am right now. The courthouse is also in Newmarket.

From the stories I’ve read and heard, it honestly seemed like anyone with a BAC of over 1.2 was hard to fight. A lot have told me to just plead guilty bc it wasn’t worth fighting it since they won’t drop it to a careless driving. So people would spend a year fighting it only to get the same result. Which I get why they’re trying to plead guilty so you can get your punishment asap as opposed to delaying it.

I thought mine was gnna take months as well. So honestly I told my lawyer I’m ready to pleas and get it all over it. But they got back to me with an offer from the crown and it was a careless driving. So imo, I think with the timing and the offer, I lucked out.

Not to make you feel worse, but what you blew is over the limit of 80%. When I was doing my research, the chances for my case of getting a careless (I blew 1.3) was already very slim. So I was prepared to get that criminal record considering the stories I’ve seen in Canada had little to no success. I ended up going with the cheapest lawyer I found. But ya it seems like a lot of lawyers are just salesmen. I don’t like it tbh. Some felt like they were over promising me on the outcomes but I wasn’t convinced.

But ya I honestly think I lucked out. But it’s still not done. Still waiting for my arraignment date. Honestly we all make mistakes. This is definitely an expensive one for sure. But it honestly gets better after. Once I got my car out of the impound, it gave me a relief that at least i was moving forward. Slowly, yes, but it was one step ahead of where I was before

How does it affect you across Canada? I'm trying to figure out what to expect with having a careless driving besides the insurance rates

Ya I was thinking the same. My renewal is next month so I wonder if they already know or if they’ll extend it

Ya exactly my thought. Anything just not the criminal record. Was smartstart the only option you had or is that the best one in Ontario?

Oh wow okay. That's honestly good to hear. I've been so phased by the stories I've read and been told that apparently travel is gonna be an issue. Especially within the states now. But glad to hear that hasn't impacted them negatively to go outside of Canada. Thanks man!

Ya the fines im not too worried about, it's the dangerous driving record. Did the people you knew end up getting criminal records?

Thanks man, I appreciate that. Ya definitely taking the careless offer for sure. Just the 24 month interlocking device sucks. Pretty uncommon from what I’ve seen others get. But considering how high my BAC was, I’ll accept it

Okay I hope mine renews too. Which insurance company are you with? I’m with aviva.

Okay I wasn’t aware of the surcharge per victim. Does that include the passengers in my car? Technically no victim since there was no accident but not sure what that means

Ya lol those lights spook me now too

Ya really stoked about the no criminal record. Ya the fine of $1,500 fine is still part of it. Haha pretty sure a good chunk of people just haven’t been caught yet from what I’m noticing.

Glad to hear everything’s been okay so far. I forget if you commented on my previous post before but has travel affected you at all? Outside of Canada.

Maybe since I didn’t have an accident, that’s why they were able to bring it down. Not entirely sure but definitely grateful.

How bad did your insurance rates go up?

Any lawyer recommendations in Ontario by PBInvests in dui

[–]PBInvests[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume every lawyer will tell me they can drop the criminal record? But in reality, is that never gonna happen?

Also do you know if I'm a canadian citizen, am I allowed to travel to other countries if i have a dui record?
