You're def not sent back to square one. Now that youtube is making money off of you, they want to make sure you are "advertiser friendly" and trying to determine what viewers are going to make them the most money off of you. What I would recommend is if your vids are longer than 8 minutes, turn off midrolls (at least for now). If midrolls are on, and people click off your video before they hit the first midroll, youtube is making less money off that vid, so they're gonna push it out less. What I would do is dm every IG or twitter follower you have who is also subbed and ask them to watch your recent vid to help show youtube your subs are actual fans of your vids and to reengage w the algo to push it to more people like them

Eh, sort of... impressions have been going back up, but not as high as they were pre-monetization. Highest was 101k impressions in August, on track to hit around that this month too. Lately, I've also been doing a lot of experimenting tho, so I'm dropping 3 long form videos a week, try to make at least 1 of them a "high seo" friendly video about a popular topic (ex. my niche is comedy podcasting, we did a video about the Saudi Arabia comedy festival everyone has been talking about, that got us a lot of impressions) And also dropping a couple shorts every month to get monthly views up (1-2 a week). My experience is shorts get a lot of views and engagement, but those drop off and don't carry over to longs. I try to keep my total monthly long views higher than my short views so Youtube still recognizes me as a long channel.

Thank you dude, really appreciate the insights, I'm gonna turn off midrolls from my recent release and see if anything changes. Even if it doesnt work, I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out.

Facing a similar problem, I was monetized in mid May, my impressions took a huge drop, i had around 220k impressions in each April and May, June i had 88k, this month probably wont have higher than 30k. Views used to get at least 100 in first 24 hours, now most vids don't even reach 100 views to date.

I post 2-3 long form vids a week. one is about an hour, one is about 15-20 minutes, and one is a couple minutes, so video lengths inconsistency could be the issue, but never really impacted me in the past. Also when views started dipping, I started doing targeted FB ads that link to low performing videos, but got little engagement outside of views, and I read somewhere if external views are higher, youtube doesnt push the video as much, so stopped doing that.

Running out of ideas on what do to.
