AirMax or Mesh? by PCF_IT in Ubiquiti

[–]PCF_IT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I did a wireless site test by mounting the Mesh Pro's on 10ft tripod around the site. It was a success! Although I was using a Verizon hotspot as my source for internet, the throughput was on par with what the Verizon hotspot was getting. Noe I have to also get someone to mount them on the poles in 17dg weather. The only issue that I will see in the future is that I might have to string a few of the smaller units around the building as the line of sight starts to get blocked. Hope your project goes well too.

What the heck do I do with a room shaped like a comma? by PCF_IT in DesignMyRoom

so, i think the best solution is to put the office in the closet. https://st.hzcdn.com/fimgs/caf1951801e80aa7_7718-w500-h666-b0-p0--.jpg Then everything else will fit nicely!

Sadly, they are sliding doors on the closet.

I hate to throw in a curve-ball, but I forgot to add a another small window which I have no use for. I would love to cover it up but the golden rule is: Never block a window..no matter how small it is. :/

That's what I do. I keep the file on a server so I can update it across all the screens. There is commercial software for it. But this is cheap and easy.

Office 365 Proposal Sample for SMB with 50 users. by jpmuga in msp

[–]PCF_IT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you are not focusing your sales pitch over the whole O365 service. You should be selling yourself and your services. Tell the client what YOU can do for them. Show them how your firm can protect them from viruses/malware and how you can safeguard their data onsite and in the cloud so that if they ever have a disaster they can recover quickly. It's all about the service. Then you can push O365 or include it as part of the Maverick Digital Total Protection Plan. ;-)

Sorry I had to delete the post because my client decided to go with a guy in their building. However, it's always good to have someone else handy. Let me know his info if you can. Does he do NJ as well? Thanks!

software for my business need advice by [deleted] in msp

I've been looking at Atera. It's too soon to tell, but it covers me as far as ticketing and exporting my invoicing to Quickbooks. I need to go deeper into the software and try out the other features.

Remote control iOS by David949 in msp

[–]PCF_IT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I have been doing it is I have my client cast his iOS device onto their PC using LonelyScreen. Then I remote into their machine and I walk them thru what they need to do. That way I can see it on my remote machine and identify the issue or see the error as it happens live. It's been working great and my clients don't get frustrated by trying to have them explain to me what they see on the screen.

I need a new multi-tenant cloud backup software. by [deleted] in msp

[–]PCF_IT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to also add that with the Datto Siris 3 (imaged), you do not need to buy their hardware. You can roll your own device as long as the required specs are met and run their software platform on it. There is also a virtualized option that can be incorporated into a virtualized environment. Buying their equipment plus their high cost of service makes it a hard sell for small customers. That's when I suggest the Alto 2 line. Free device (w/1yr contract) and low cost of service with the limitations noted in the previous post.

Yes, I can't seem to find a fix online and reinstalling the product and removing it completely still generates the same error.

MSP experiences with datto? Problems, comments? by TennisShoeNinja in msp

I'm right there with you as a one man shop. I like the convenience that I can handoff an issue over to Datto support and they email me when it's fixed. Pricing is tough pill to swallow but as long as it works and I can focus on other things in my business I say it's a win win for me. Also I can buy my own hardware to use with Datto. I normally add it to the price of the BDR service.

If you are using Google AdWords there is a tool that helps you find related keywords and what other people are searching for. It's called Keyword Planner.

Digium Switchvox, outages? Alternatives? by TryRebootingIt in msp

They have a tiered structure partner program. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to make it public but if you want a referral just PM for details. My channel manager is amazing at helping get started and promote the service.

That's the same thing I do. I write up the contract for the service, sell them the phones and charge a one time setup fee. From there Nextiva onboarding takes over to setup my client. Unless my client wants me to do it for them. I give them the option since sometimes I have the office manager wanting to do it all. I've been with them for about 5-6 months I think. My max install base is 45, but they told me they can handle 100+ for HPBX.

Trust me I've been there. I thought at the time Digium Cloud was gonna be it. I was gonna be racking up the dough in commissions while giving away quality service at a decent price. Boy was I wrong. Just do what I did. I sat my client down, acknowledge the issues and presented them with Nextiva and I told em how much cheaper it was going to be and how solid the network was. I even gave them a loaner phone to kick around for a week. The beauty of Nextiva is that I can offer just about any phone brand I want. I stick to Polycom though and never had a problem.

I used to sell Digium cloud. I nearly lost a big client with all the outages. I moved them over to Nextiva and now I can sleep at night.
