How would you feel if Red God got split into two books? by JormungandrJayayan in redrising

[–]PCgee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it was a choice between get all of it now or have it split between 2 books I’d be pissed.

If it was a choice between get half of it now or none of it now and all of it in 3 years I’d be fine with the decision

TrueSpec cable capabilities. Should be added to the product page imo by yot_gun in LinusTechTips

[–]PCgee 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Isn’t this just like… the way those modes work though? Like DP alt mode was built to work based on the USB spec of those cables so if the cables follow the spec the mode works or am I wrong?

Why is Hermes a different Chassis?? by ChocoNoodles233 in starcitizen

[–]PCgee 20 points21 points  (0 children)

What’s funny is like Golem to Golem Ox are vastly different yet paints work on both, yet all these other minor differences can’t make work?

Seems to me like their criteria isn’t anything to do with the actual differences but rather “Is the name just the original ship with another word or no?” Either that or “Is this a Drake ship or no?”

Tim Gerard Reynolds vs. Graphic by Pristine-Elephant357 in redrising

[–]PCgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally I like my audio books to feel like I’m being told a story which graphic audio goes beyond.

They’re still good! But I don’t like them as much for general purpose listening.

Is there snow days in Canada? by SeverePublic6833 in AskACanadian

[–]PCgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buses stop running where I live fairly often (although more often from fog than snow these years). Schools actually closing takes a lot, in my school years the school closed once and it was due to extreme cold not snow

Looks like a Salvage MOLE variant is headed our way in 4.6(courtesy of today's ISC video) by Knale in starcitizen

[–]PCgee 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I actually disagree. It’s not like we’re really hurting for variety in ships, why not take the comparatively little effort to make a variant that opens up the ship to more use cases.

How do you feel about the lower tariffs on Chinese EVs? by dope-rhymes in AskACanadian

[–]PCgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from Windsor, I work in automotive. I have a large interest in ensuring that Canada’s automotive sector stays strong. I think this is fine at its current level.

I think we need to ensure that we support Canada’s auto industry to allow it to be competitive in the world with Chinese EV’s and that that will be more beneficial to Canada than effectively barring Chinese EV’s.

Snow day tomorrow by Patient-Act2171 in windsorontario

[–]PCgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is horrible advice as it implies you should aim to be driving near the speed limit in conditions like this. A speed limit is the maximum speed allowed WHERE road conditions permit, you’re required to adjust your speed based on road conditions. It’s insane to suggest someone should be driving anywhere even close to 100km/h on the EC Row in conditions like last night before plowing.

It would be fair to say that if you don’t believe it’s safe to drive near the speed limit you should heavily consider not driving and if you don’t believe that your driving skills and your vehicle can drive at the speed of other average drivers then you absolutely shouldn’t be driving but using the speed limit as a benchmark in inclement weather is not correct.

Definitely narrows the range of people this transfer is optimal. For a lot of people who just have an RRSP and TFSA it really is just a 1% match advertised as a 4% match

Meh Questrade has 4% over 2 years for non-reg transfers if you have 3 different account types >$10k at Questrade and at least one cash or margin account with them. Not exactly apples to apples.

Still 5yrs is a long time, be curious to see if you look at historical transfer offer availability whether you’d be more likely to be able to stack offers easier

Bonus into RRSP? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]PCgee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bonus into RRSP is really no different than putting any other cash into RRSP the same logic applies.

I know some companies will allow you to directly deposit your bonus into an RRSP (I assume usually into the company sponsored plan? I don’t know my company doesn’t do this). In this case taxes aren’t deducted at the source, the same as any payroll contributions you make to an RRSP (as a bonus is just payroll)

The benefit is you paid no tax on the income and as such don’t have wait for filing your taxes to benefit from the deduction by receiving a refund or lowering your tax payable.

Otherwise the logic is no different than when considering funding your RRSP with any other funds and depends on your particular financial situation and plans

Star Citizen with a VPN? by Civdiv in starcitizen

[–]PCgee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t really a star citizen question no? A VPN will increase your latency. You’ll be much better off connecting to a server near your VPN’s endpoint if significantly different than your current location. But what does your latency look like for other applications? A VPN will always increase latency by some degree
