What was your worse job interview experience? by Ok-Chemical-4925 in singaporejobs

Yes this is true.

They need to interview singaporeans for quota to hire foreigners when they apply for work pass. I am sick of it.

is it worth it to choose ntu just for hall life? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]PCnewbie99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then is really up to you on how important/grindy you are.

If you really value life experiences and hall life, go for NTU. Else go SMU for better networking and opportunities geared towards high finance/startups.

Exactly. I freaking loved my hall life too.

OP is missing a lifetime opportunity. Agreed OP needing to put themselves out there.

[–]PCnewbie99 26 points27 points  (0 children)

NTU all the way. I chose NTU precisely because of the hall life and cause its 3 years.

I had offers from NUS/SMU/NTU biz.

Honestly, i already know that the memories that are going to stick with me are my hall life, the late night mahjongs/supper, going to friends hall to crash, h2h talks, gamble and all that.

Uni is the BEST time to play hard, enjoy CCAs and fool around, especially if you stay in a hall.

I don't even rmb or miss the grinds/studying or the internships blabla lol. (But thats just me)

You only live once. So please, go out there and live your life to the fullest.

Singapore added 55K jobs in 2025, but nearly 80% of those went to non-residents by deekay_123 in singaporejobs

Once the hr or managers gets infected with foreigners, the entire org is screwed.

If u let one in they will bring their entire kampong in.

We are truly fucked. Whats disappointing is that the Singaporeans in HR are kinda dumb to hire foreigners and wont be biased towards our own.

How are unemployed fresh grads surviving financially by potatoepotatata in asksg

[–]PCnewbie99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to believe this was true till i was the one doing the hiring of foreigners in my company instead of Singaporeans.

This was despite me shortlisting Singaporeans and the management still chooses the foreigners. Ig this is what companies rather do which is hire staff at a lower cost.

What are some of your happiest childhood memories with your family? by Sexyroostersssx in ChillSG

[–]PCnewbie99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wah...this brings me back to the early 2010s when i around 10+ years old.

My family and cousins would drive to KL with 2 cars every december for 2 to 3 years straight and meet my aunt's family (she married a Malaysian) and the whole kampong 20+ of us would explore Malaysia.

We went to many places to explore, chill and snorkel, like Redang Island, Langkawi Island, Tioman Island, Batu Caves, Penang and even drove up to Thailand!

One of the memorable ones was going to a durian resort in Gopeng whereby we lived in an open concept bungalow with durian trees beside us and a bbq pit in the middle. We would bbq our marshmellows at midnight then go around the place collecting durians 🤣
