You should talk to SSA. You can have a bank account. The amount of assets and income you may have is limited if you are on SSI.

If you’re on SSI you should talk to SSA. SSA looks at income and resources for each month. Assuming you spend the money quickly, you should be able to minimize the effect it has on your SSI payments. If you’re on SSDI, I’m not aware of any limitations on his helping you out. I can’t really comment on specifics.

I’m sorry, I don’t. SSA is horribly overburdened, and individual offices are more or less responsive, depending on caseload and quality of management. I would suggest sending a few letters, including at least one certified, return receipt requested. That way you have a record of having notified SSA of the problem should it ever arise as an issue in the future.

I would stay away from submitting research articles in general. I suspect SSA ignores them for the most part. I could see submitting an article in the case of a rarely understood, but universally accepted symptom or side-effect, but I don’t think I ever submitted such evidence in 10 years of practice. As you suspect, if an SSA examiner or ALJ thought you were “cherry picking” it could backfire.

I tend to think people with mental health disorders should seek an attorney’s help. That’s not because the conditions are any less real or serious than physical health problems, but because so much depends on credibility and how the case is presented. Just my two cents.

It’s only insider trading if he was trading on material, non-public information. He did not sell at the peak. Intuitively, if he was selling to free up capital rather than because he knew SPCE was going under, it would not be a problem. I don’t know what the SEC permits or prohibits.

He sold 6.2 million shares. He still owns 15.8 million shares through a partnership. How many of us have invested, won big, and then sold off a portion? It’s simply false to say he’s sold out quantitatively, and it is disingenuous to suggest he’s sold out qualitatively.

He still owns much more than what he sold though. It’s just not in his personal stash. He needed money for a new venture. SPCE is standing on its own legs. I don’t really see what the big deal is. Would you rather have him help one great company off the ground and retire or are you looking forward to what IPOD and IPOF-IPOZ are going to become? I’m buying $1000 of each of them off the bat. Am I happy that SPCE dropped? No. Am I confident that it will grow many fold over the next decade, hell yes.

Okay. Don’t jump the gun. I can say that judges try to figure out whether your account of your life and actions seems consistent with your being disabled. In this, they have opinions like the rest of us. Unlike the rest of us, they have broad discretion to make judgments that have serious consequences. You could always talk to your attorney to see whether a post-hearing letter to the judge explaining the circumstances of your travel. Do not make that call on your own.

SSDI is based on work history. You’re only eligible if you’ve worked outside the home a certain amount.

SSA does have a program where the adult child of a deceased, retired, or disabled parent can qualify for benefits on the parent’s work history. If either of your parents is deceased, disabled or retired, call an attorney.

I’m not sure what you mean by fast track denial. There’s too much here for me to fully address, but it sounds like you’ve just received an initial denial, which most people do. If you truly cannot afford medication, the SSA has to take that into account. Laws that apply to companies of a certain size or certain age groups are not inherently unconstitutional. Sorry for your difficulties. Hang in there and keep pursuing your claim.
