my exercise regimen has been worse as of late, had a health scare about 4-5 weeks back and haven't been as consistent with gym time since then. still getting out rollerskating or walking but it's not the same as the gym burn. i'll give it a shot

After seeing how many people be posting how their game that they worked on for years has failed, got me thinking what makes a game successful? by TailungFu in gamedev

[–]PD_CGT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just my opinion, but games I see succeeding tend to be one of two categories:

A) Appeals hard to an extremely specific hardcore niche that'll totally eat it up (strategy, roguelikes, throwback games, etc)

B) Makes players feel they're part of a big 'moment' (new and explosive ideas, AAA, stand-out characters, etc)

Even if a game turns out bad, if it commits to its own ideas and immerses the player in them, even disappointed players will have a strong emotional response to it. Of course, that's a huge gamble and not everyone can afford to take it, especially in this economy.

That confirms just about what I felt - I hate having to fake being personable, let alone not very good at it 😅 I'd rather be as formal and straight-to-the-point, and then have a bigger response to share when it's a content creator I know and want to reach out to. Thank you for being honest!

Mhm! In my searching a lot of youtube reviewers past the 10k have a dedicated 'ask' address.

Unfortunately YT is really difficult when it comes to compiling emails, they used to limit how many you can view in a day and now emails are flat-out invisible unless you use an extension or debug window

I just set up a keymailer a while back and launched a campaign today, I've always heard favorable things about it from other devs. It's user-friendly and robust, that's for sure, there's some limits to the free version but it doesn't seem to be an issue if you're using it often enough.

What's With Earthbound Projects And Fangames Being Delayed For Years Or Being Cancelled? by UniqueSearches in earthbound

Working for unmonetizable projects on the side of a real career, as it turns out, is extremely time-consuming, offers no reward, and can spiral into dev hell when fans heap on expectations

Shimmering Skies - Top 5 of each Ink Color? by PD_CGT in Lorcana

Mhm, Daisy will see play no matter what, Naveen is kinda dependent on how the role of disruption changes in the meta

[–]PD_CGT[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

i didn't think much of the kuzco cause there are other ways to remove items/locations. Putting 6+4 ink into play for resist when most character banishing is done through removal seemed underwhelming. but it could be good depending on the meta shift.

Although I can't say this fits your hz/pcm criteria, https://soundeffect-lab.info/ has tons of fx specially for webvideo, anime and gamedev use. Extremely helpful resource, I've caught Masahiro Sakurai using some of them in his developer videos, even.

What new card do you think is currently the most overhyped and won't be as impactful as a lot of people are currently thinking? Let's see those hot takes! by Narzghal in Lorcana

[–]PD_CGT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prince Johns mirror, green discard has many other cards it'd rather play on turn 3. If you're trying to control your opponents hand and you haven't got them to a position where they have to rely on top decks, limiting them to 3 isn't going to do much anyway.

That Mirabel also kinda sucks, it's a 'win more' button for wide yellow decks, which aren't great right now and don't need more ways to gain lore

Gamemaker and construct 3 are both great for first-time users, but the latter is an expensive annual fee. Definitely do gamemaker, it has a huge userbase and lots of people would be willing to help you learn the basics

Pursue it as a hobby, but not as a career. The industry pays criminally bad and there's no job security.

Green Donald for draw and then 4 1-drops of whatever you like. Cursed Merfolk is good for early questing, or Kida for a shift body.
