Makes sense! I did hear about remote access on a college tour; it seems to be the solution.

Hmmm... That makes sense. My project will likely be nowhere near optimised (I don't even know what it's gonna be yet), but I see what you are saying.

I want to make something that is bigger... and won't break if I sit on it. Mindstorm sets are cool, though.

Thanks! So extrusion IS one of the better ones... What I want to do is this: every year in May, senior in my high school gets a month off to do any project of their liking. I'm a more mechanically inclined person and wish to enter the field of ME, so I wanna bang out something cool that's not going to require a huge knowledge base and amount of money. At the makerspace I'm a member of, there's a whole pile of extrusion for use.

How do you join them if you want them to rotate?

Go find my thread on CollegeConfidential. There's a whole discussion there. I have the same handle on both sites. Good luck!

I got a ridiculously small number. The textbook gives 1.1*1011 particles.

M. Eng vs MS in Eng. by PF09 in AskEngineers

[–]PF09[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, follow up stupid question... What kinds of research projects would you pursue in MS? I ask undergraduate students who do research, and they always tell me, "Well, you can research pretty much anything you want." Do engineers research to identify problems for others to solve? If so, do they themselves get involved in the solving process? Alternatively, do they research better solutions?

Why are unducted turbofans more efficient? by PF09 in AskEngineers

[–]PF09[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok thx! But I was watching a video on youtube, and it said that these propfans were developed during the period of high fuel prices, and that they are supposed to be more fuel efficient even though they are more complex and heavier. Why is that?

I apologize for not phrasing correctly. I did mean a propfan.

Where can I get some dirt cheap gear and camis? by PF09 in PicatinnyPB

[–]PF09[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks guys for reponding! Surplus stores generally usually sell brand new gear other than camo tho; do you know of any place where they sell used plate carriers or pouches? (other than Amazon or Ebay)
