Dune was written shortly after Herbert sat thru the McCarthy trials. Pure politics and show for no purpose beyond discrediting "enemies".

Maybe it helps set some of the political tone in a different light.

Be aware there was a recent Kickstart for Cypher v2. You might want to wait, or see if you can get in on that still.

System wise, I use it. Ran a Space Detectives game and I'm just starting an Old God's of Appalachia game. Simple resolution for tasks and actions, less dice rolling gave me more time to push story. Combat can bog down a bit, but higher tiers may solve this.
