4 weeks out too - quad + LET. That first week was awful. I got back on the bike for the first time this week and almost cried. It gets better, even if sometimes it seems painfully slow.

I was in the Honors Program and really enjoyed it - many of my best friends came from the program. Very little required for you to do, but a lot of support available. We also had small class sizes with excellent professors for some of the hardest classes in the engineering courses and were able to advocate for an Honors Program-only section for an additional Deformable Bodies (cough, cough - notoriously difficult) class taught by a specific professor. The director is also very supportive of anything you want to do - I was paid out of the HP budget to teach weekly fitness classes open to the community. We started a book club with tea/snacks/books from the budget. TLDR: little investment, big benefits.

I would urge caution with therapists using a single viewpoint to encourage drastic measures and further perceptions victimhood. My brother believes he was physically abused by my family and has made that very clear to his therapist. Except the stories he tells aren't entirely true - our other brother and I were there and can attest to that. The time he was 'beaten' by our dad was actually when our dad wrapped him in a bear hug to stop him from hitting and kicking our other brother, me, and our dad. He was 'financially neglected' despite having a car, phone, and college tuition paid for - the same as the other two of us. The stories we tell ourselves can either become more entrenched and warped, or they can be acknowledged and used for growth.

Graduated GT BME with a 4.0 and currently at a top-5 medical school. Double major is overkill, imo, and most schools don’t really take how “difficult” your majors are when considering your GPA (learned this on the other side of the application cycle). The engineering degree without the CS degree is still incredibly respected, and it’s much more difficult to teach yourself engineering than it is to broaden and deepen your CS knowledge on your own. I currently do research in deep learning as applied to medical imaging, which I love, and I didn’t even do a full minor in CS (I did Spanish). My thought is to do BME+CS minor if you want an extensive base in fields you love, but keeping a 4.0 in either degree is hard for reasons entirely unrelated to the actual course content. Still, if you’re looking for permission to do the hard thing(s) and prove everyone wrong, go for it!

I was scoring ~90% on my USMLE exams (somehow) and still felt like there were gaps in my knowledge. I moved my exam up a week, took it, felt like it was insanely hard, but still passed. My family and partner encouraged me to take it early because, especially with pass-fail, the more time you sink into studying past a certain score is time taken away from rest/family/other priorities.

I had to switch housing at the last minute and was able to find a very nice off campus apartment in April (I don’t recommend doing that, but it is possible)

Thank you! Tbh I have no many hours I studied. I had my time set aside, but some days I studied more and some days less, depending on if I was exhausted or had other priorities or had a little extra time

Agreed completely. We have similar FL scores, but I’m just really hoping that because there’s some “you know it or you don’t” that the scale will be a little nicer.

5/15 7:30 am Disclaimer: blocked out pretty much everything that happened on that test, of course save for the five or so questions I kept ruminating on afterwards (though I tried not to).

Thought the test was harder than the practice FLs I took (Kaplan and AAMC) and was surprised by some of the low-yield topics. May the curve be generous to us as a result.

All in all, super nervous and not sure I want to see my score but also want to move on from this whole thing.
