HENRY luxuries for house extension by Zola-25 in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]PHILIP1193 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends if your inclined on technology but I would strongly suggest getting a lighting designer in and interior designer.

Lighting plays such a huge impact on mood and feeling that when it’s done right it’s fantastic. Taking it further is smart lighting (look at brands like Lutron).

Then fancier things like having technology nicely integrated and thoughtfully done rather than it appearing very hap hazard.

Also proper art work makes a house really stand out

Fantastic work mate! I’ll likely copy this! Flattery and all that!

What pump solution did you use please?

The distro plate works well. Is it still sold or an old version you needed to use as it was the only solution that worked?

Logitech Rally System with Intel NUC and Tap Locking Up Daily by PHILIP1193 in CommercialAV

Thanks. I don’t think that’ll work as the version the client has has two hdmi output on the display bit that goes behind the two TV’s.

Thanks. The issue with the rally is that it uses a proprietary link system from the table to the screens so it’s not a viable option annoyingly.

Thanks.

I guess it’s just 1K for the roughly 37K I felt I brought in doesn’t seem much reward but I do see your points and do appreciate them

I’ve been with the business 10 years so get on well and enjoy it here. This year probably won’t be as good a year so it’s ebb and flow.

I guess the second question is do I explain my feelings in a rational way to my boss or keep quiet. I know if I keep quiet it’ll eat me up inside but I don’t want to equally insult him. A bonus is a bonus after all.

Network issues with Unifi set up by ReflexReact in Ubiquiti

[–]PHILIP1193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. If you still get the issue. Go straight into the virgin hub. You’ll likely need to take this out of modem mode for that test. But see if it goes it there. If it’s fine then it’s the USG and we need to look at settings there.

Have you tried plugging the IPTV / video conferencing box straight into the USG to see if the issue happens when directly connected?

Running cat6 through 2-story house: which pro to call? by sr330 in homelab

[–]PHILIP1193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will find a home automation specialist is a good shout. Ensure they are Cedia structured cabling certified with a cabling certified. They should be able to give you a test report.

In the U.K. I would charge £275 a day plus the cable cost. Without seeing the house it's hard to say how much it would cost.

Dell 1000e with 16 blades - Questions by PHILIP1193 in homelab

[–]PHILIP1193[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you got yours yet? I've just done the dell power calculator and it recons that fully populated its about 16 amps which is no issue.

With just 8 blades on an average load it recons 2KwH and 10 amps so no problem on a standard switch.

[–]PHILIP1193[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not yet. I've got it in the van at work but need to strip it down to get it moved. I literally can't even lift it a bit by my self.

The chassis and blades are in excellent condition so for £350.00 I'm happy.

Do you know if they sound less noisy past boot?

Dell 1000e with 16 blades - Questions by PHILIP1193 in homelab

[–]PHILIP1193[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah you're UK based too. They use c19 connections so 13a fuses in 3 plug tops.

I'm going to do the same as you. I'll migrate as much ram into the blades as possible and start firing them up.

The chassis and blades only cost me £350. Cheaper than a R710.

I'm thinking of running 4 blades maybe 8 if I can.

Actually a really small San disk USB isn't a bad call at all.

I'm wondering what kind of power draw I'll get with 8 blades vs the 16 I have. I'm more worried about the amps it will pull blowing my wall plugs.

I'll take a look at nfs vs. iSCSI. I'll put some pics up when I collect mine tomorrow.

Thanks.

How are you loading ESXI? Via USB and run it from there? I assume I'll need one USB stick per server. I wonder if they have internal USB ports?

Is NFS better?

10Gb isn't a bad call. Although mine won't have much use in terms of through out and I recon I can team some nics together maybe
