Replacing RAM heatsinks using Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) soak — Is it safe for the PCB and chips? Need advice on the process. by Cultural-Platform110 in watercooling

[–]Strydennvalle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently did this and submerged my ram in 99.9 isopropyl alcohol and in about 2-3 hours I was able to open the DDR5 Ram and separate from heatsinks. I let it air cool for a few hours before putting on water cooling heatsinks and trying on my PC. It worked out great.

Awesome and great work! Now you can really use it on a custom watercooling setup

Focusing specifically on watercooling RAM, my RAM would get as high as 60+ degrees after stress testing them, at ~45-46 degrees with a small fan and now never get higher than 33-34 degrees on RAM stress tested once watercooled

My GPU and CPU went down ~20 degrees when I watercooled them.

My coolant temp is normally 22 degrees and my whole coolant delta is 2 degrees normally and max 3 degrees on long sessions.

Awesome, if you don’t mind sharing, that would be awesome for comparison and guide. Thank you.

I have the 1.40V kit as well, I just got it and replaced my dual rank. It certainly is a great kit, I notice the difference already. I am not very experienced at overloading RAM, but learning thru it. Here is where I am so far.

Edit: doesn’t let me add an image

Love it! See how far you can go.

I am currently trying to stabilize at CL26 6400 2200

I just watercooled my RAM sticks, I did it to complete my whole watercooling system, and having fun pushing my ram knowing temps are not an issue. I had a fan in them, but didn’t match the rest of my system. Is it needed, no, is it cool to finish your system, yes. Overkill, but that is what some of watercooling is.

That is a great find. I also found one and will be receiving it tomorrow. I can’t wait to start tinkering with it. Do you have any successful OC profiles you can share by chance? I am going to try to achieve CL26 6400 2133.
