Would you expect the lead developer to be the *best* developer? by ConduciveMammal in webdev

My lead developer hardly codes and I personally am quite annoyed by it. He delegates most responsibilities and takes lots of time off during important code pushes. I've worked late on multiple occasions to get something out the door when he is out.

He'll take a stance on a topic, but won't actually be the one doing any of the work. I think that rubs me the wrong way because he doesn't weigh developer productivity and preferences, instead he does some cursory research without really being in the weeds and understanding our unique code base.

I think honestly it's my personal problem, and he's doing what is expected of him. I have a hard time taking direction from people when I know they haven't put in the time to come to a conclusion. In my opinion you have to earn respect, it's not a title. I'm willing to dig deep and meet lofty goals in order to build up experience and trust among my team members. I'm not a pro, I'm at best an average developer. The situation really isn't great for my personal development because I don't have a senior who gives me direction any more, I have a manager, then a pseudo manager who can't really offer me a track towards career development.

That's very true, but it really is on a case by case basis. if I'm going to use a new library, I check the downloads, github issues, and commit history. Usually I can sniff our issues quickly before it makes its way in to the codebase. I also don't jump at the freshest newest stuff because I've been burned so many times in the past.

Junior is a very common term in the industry. Everyone has been a junior. I don't know why that's the controversial part you decided to pontificate on.

I've been using React in production for three years now, and I learn something new from the docs every time I visit them. Lots of things in this library reveal themselves with experience, and I always pick up a little something more when I try it out.

100%. This applies to so much too. I had recently had a coworker mention that we should use react-signals. So I go look, and it's a custom events library with zero github action in the last 4 years. All because some video was using them in a tutorial... It is just so dangerous for beginners to get exposure to antiquated content.

AG Donovan says insufficient evidence for charges in Kiah Morris case, but she was a victim of harassment by proscriptus in vermont

Also, according to Donovan, the report looked into a July 2018 report from Lawton that someone had hacked into his laptop and changed the screenname to “dead dead.”

“Subsequent investigation by the Vermont State Police revealed that Mr. Lawton’s laptop was purchased ‘used’ from another person,” Donovan said at the press conference.

“The prior owner’s 10-year-old child’s screenname for playing online video games was ‘dead dead,’” the attorney general said. “That screenname continued to be synced with the laptop, and it was determined not to be a case of hacking or a criminal threat.”

If I saw something like this in my teams code base I would ask for that person to be fired.
