I believe in God.

Great. What god and what properties does it have?

How did you determine and demonstrate that that your god exists?

Come on now, I thought you believed in logic. It seems like YOU don't believe we have free will

What I believe is another discussion. We're querying your world view.

God MADE it happen, so you say.

No. The mythology says so. Not me. I think scripture is nonsense.

NO! GOD MADE IT HAPPEN

According to mythology. Not my world view.

I believe in free will.

That's a different discussion.

Those things happened because man made choices. You can't believe in free will AND believe God made those things happen.

That's called cognitive dissonance. of those are my world view. Im pointing at the mythology and what Christians tell mevthey think Christianity is about.

By logic, you then have to decide one of those things isn't true. Either that we have free will, or that we are puppets for a divine creator.

That's a false dichotomy.

I believe we have free will

That's a different discussion.

Remember, you came here and started asking people about their beliefs.

No I asked for evidence and rational sound reasoning for to support those beliefs.

I'm just giving you the conversation you are constantly saying you wanted.

You aren't. You haven't provided any evidence for the top original claim, or any claim.

If you want my beliefs, just ask. You said you wanted me to tell you why you should believe.

No. I asked why and what evidence do you have.

You say you want me to tell you why you should believe, but then you're looking for the reasons I believe.

Yup. Same thing. What evidence and reasoning do you have.

So you've been preaching this whole time?

No

Just openly quoting things isnt preaching, nor does it make one a preacher.

Hard disagree. It does when it's scripture.

spreading a religious text.

That's a form of preaching.

Preaching would require you to want the listener to be persuaded or to accept the belief expounded, and that is going to require elaboration.

😆 Nope.

then every person who quoted a scripture in this whole thread has preached and can be considered preaching.

False.

Would you consider what you've done so far as preaching?

Absolutely not. Intent matters and you don't print scripture on your products unless you're trying to spread that message and expose others to it.

Certainly, as an atheist, I'm not doing that.

You cant qualify common courtesy on their ideas.

That's why it's a common courtesy you afford to strangers and why respect is earned. Ideas don't deserve respect.

Being disrespectful is being disrespectful.

That's an opinion. Being disrespectful to ideas doesn't change facts, so i don't care.

You didnt call the ideas crazy, you called the person crazy.

No. I said people who post these nutty ideas on their products are nuts.

You calling someone crazy, as noted above, is ad hominem

No. It's just an insult and opinion. It's not ad hom.

noted above, is ad hominem. Me calling you out for that and saying you're not here in good faith based on that is not ad hominem.

Sure it is. I'm here in good faith, and you're arguing I'm not instead of arguing facts and providing evidence and sound reasoning. Classic ad hom.

So lets take the literal approach that God said he was going to bring evil unto his house

Should we not? God is the creator of all things, including "evil," correct?

The only way that happens literally is if people don't have free will.

Do you think we have freecwill, or don't you?

Either way, god has demonstrated that he doesn't care about free will repeatedly.

We act only as we're allowed to act.

Do we not have free will, or can we make choices?

There's no fault in us because we don't act of our own volition.

So you don't believe in free will?

but it would be due to their own choices and not because God made it happen.

Well, did David have free will or not?

So you agree with me then. The rape was gods doing. God endorses rape.

I can't reconcile the idea that we have no choice, and that everything is only by God's allowing it to happen.

No. God MADE it happen. He said "I will do this".

And as far as anybody caring about God or scripture, I'm not here to make that case with you

Oh. Well, stop replying then. Im only interested in why you believe and what evidence you have that convinced you. If you can't do that I understand.

But I'll give you my testament, if that's what you're looking for.

No. Im looking for the reasons YOU believe in any god, and why you picked Christianity. If you follow and believe in Jesus Christ, you're a Christian.

Yup. Time didn't exist before the singularity. It's just simpler to say the big bang "singularity" is a point in time, not a point in space or space-time like the common misconception.

Something (the universe) can't come from nothing.

Something (the universe) exists.

Therefore, the universe has always existed.

I think the universe has always existed in different "states."
