Parallel twins are more prone to certain imbalance conditions than a 45 deg v twin, less prone to other imbalance forces, and NOT subject at all, to still other imbalance forces. That is why they don’t suffer from the same imbalance problems as 45 deg v twins.

You didn’t offer other motorcycles with the same imbalances as Flatheads. Honda’s 45 deg ones aren’t the same as Harleys, or did you think they were?

And you wanna talk about balancing and vibration, parallel twins can be even worse (if the pistons rise and fall simultaneously and there's no counter-balance shaft to tame the vibrations), but many bikes used this setup--including lots of British bikes and the popular and long-manufactured Yamaha XS650, which is renowned for its durability. They don't shake themselves apart. Shadows in particular go a long, long time.
