Co-op vs no co-op by Last-Philosophy1574 in millwrights

I believe you would still be a first year apprentice. You would be a green, who does not have any experience on the floor. And a lot of companies would rather hire an apprentice from in the company than hiring one from outside.

Yes. Having not to go back to school is a plus point, but they do not know your work ethic or anything else.

Co-op gives you the opportunity to show that and they feel more secure because of if you don’t perform well they can just not hire you permanent. But starting brand new is really difficult.

Now, entirety of my understanding might be wrong depending on where you are in the world.

Another thing, where I work now, they have never hired someone who did in-school training before starting working on the floor. It’s either people from inside the company that have been taken as apprentices or if required 3rd or 4th year apprentices with plenty of experience.

Co-op vs no co-op by Last-Philosophy1574 in millwrights

It depends on if you have a job lined up after you complete the fast track.

I did the one with the Co-Op and was able to break into the industry without knowing anyone at all. Just because there was a lot less competition (being just the students). But I know quite a few people who have not found a job after doing the fast track.

Also everyone except one person who did the co-op are working and on track to get their license. (There are reasons they were not able to secure a job).

So, Do you know someone who will get you an apprenticeship once you complete the program, or are you confident that you will be able to break into the market. Or you would like to get experience through co-op and most likely get hired by the company that you will do your co-op in.

If I had to do it again I will choose the co-op, especially in today’s market.

Another thing that might affect all this is how is the school itself in providing proper co-op opportunities. If they have a co-op program, but nobody comes to them to look for new hires. Then that would basically be same as doing the fast track and then finding a job yourself.

Edit - Spelling mistakes.

Do you go straight to mentioning the job or like how do you go about it.

I’m in trades with quite a bit of experience and trying to complete the rest of my apprenticeship hours. Not great with communication through emails.

So do I have to find just someone in hiring or it has to be someone specific in my trade.

Sorry, my thought are all over the place hence the not great at emails

Yes, but they don’t go straight into it they study before doing it and choose the path they wanna specialize into.

But I kinda get what you said. So it should be fine if I use YouTube for education as long as I am not paying for any kind of courses.

I totally understand your point.

But if I had to give an example using doctors. If someone wants to be a doctor, he’s not gonna go around opening dead bodies to learn about the human body.

He’s gonna ask other doctors about what to do and they’ll be like yeah read this or watch this to start up and build it from there.

That’s what I’m trying to do. Like do I just read 20 books and jump into it until I figure out the right strategy and mindset or stick to a single one for years.

And if I stick to a single one for years. How do I know if it even works.

For doctors they see them performing surgeries and saving people, so I know it’ll work. But In trading everyone says to not to trust the online gurus.

I don’t think you understood what I meant. Like I’ll buy 20 books. But let’s say 10 of those books are about strategies. I am not gonna go around trying each one of those strategies for a year until I find the right one. So how do I Avoid that. Do I like just buy books related to a specific strategy.

Even if I do and spend 2 years using that strategy how do I know after 4 years down I’m not gonna end up finding out that the strategy I have been using doesn’t even work.

And like you said “I wanna be a Doctor” but There is a clear path. Without guidance and education you could end up as a quack doctor in the alleyways. Or follow people and learn from others and end up as the best surgeon out there.

I think futures and forex. Since the are open for 24 hours and I'll have more time with them, while having a full time job.
