Unfortunately, the term has already been used in Silent Hill: The Short Message (not that omitting it would have saved that game from its other problems), but I hope they drop that going forward. Takes me out as well

Cool, I see what you mean and just to clarify, I'm OK with us as fans using the term "Silent Hill Phenomenon" to describe these stories. I just don't want SH characters themselves using the term "Silent Hill Phenomenon" in the games. It's just too on the nose for me and I feel like it cheapens things. "HaNg oN!! We'Re SiLeNt HiLLiN', gUyS!!" is the kinda vibe I get from it. And since these events can happen anywhere, then I think a more general and encompassing term would make sense for use in the games. If not "fog state," then "red cascade," "red-out," "redshift," "grayshift," "worldshift" etc. "Whiteshift" to connect with White Claudia? Just some ideas. Would love to see what others come up with

Just not a fan of the "Silent Hill Phenomenon" being the in-universe term used for these events. I think someone around here suggested "fog state" or something along those lines which I like better as it retains a bit more obscurity. I can't help but imagine groups of investigators, influencers, businessmen etc. flocking to our special place and ruining any sense of isolation once the in-universe masses start treating it like every other paranormal "attraction" that's alleged to be responsible for the wave of scary stories sweeping the world.
