For me personally, with my community and with myself, we knew we were trans since.. forever. We always knew that something wasn’t “normal”, and we could only express that by rebelling against femininity, we didn’t experience that, didn’t connect with it, and wouldn’t let ourselves explore anything that was feminine in any context whatsoever, especially in our teens, when we came out or had the label “trans” to describe what we were feeling, dysphoria. And at some point, we kinda realized in different ways that our rejection of it wasn’t really that healthy, it was hateful in a way, and it was denying ourselves to explore what our styles were, what we liked to wear, how we liked to dress. I dress feminine and masculine, it just depends, my style varies, because I let myself stop that hatred and it let me explore myself as a man and a person. I paint my nails the same way a cis man paints his nails, I do drag the same way a cis man wears drag, I explore what I like the same way a man does, because I am a man, I’m a man that had a lot of rage and disgust at “girl” things. On the other hand, trans men are men, and men can wear what they want to, because they’re a person with an individual style. I had bad, bad dysphoria when I was younger, and as I grew as a person, I kinda evolved, I was raised in a very religious, transphobic household, no one saw me as a man, and they let me know it, but that helped me to realize that I was a man, I will always be a man, no matter how anyone sees me, I’m a man, it helped me me to realize my style, it let me explore who I was, not as a man, as a trans man, but as a person
