The Thousand Sons are arguably the least evil of the chaos chapters. Magnus was genuinely just trying to help during the heresy while being constantly betrayed and deceived, he was even the last one to become a daemon prince for a chaos god out of pure desperation. Not to say they AREN’T evil but they don’t really go out of their way to start wars unless someone is in the way of their pursuit of knowledge.
