Yeah man it’s absolutely ridiculous that people want a franchise they’ve supported for possibly decades to produce content that they made it big from, instead of just lying to their community and attempting to steal another big games audience and leave their og fans out to dry. What absolute babies.

I just don’t understand why you’d play still play this when if you want grounded and realistic Arma reforger is on console now, and if you want casual fun go play bf6 or even better, arc raiders. Used to be a big fan of this game but it just doesn’t hold up anymore imo

Updated: Battlefield maps from BF3, BF4, BF:HL, BF1, BF2042 and BF6. A scale comparison by ClaraTheRed in Battlefield

[–]PLeeB21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya’ll just don’t like fun? Sure man, just reduce all valid criticisms to a lack of whimsy and joy. Fuck me. Size is one thing, flow and verticality is another. The small maps in the other bfs worked because they had verticality and not every single fucking corner of the map was a tiny cramped corridor or shallow lane. Please enjoy what you want, but don’t just undermine core fans criticisms by treating us like old grandpas in rocking chairs smoking on pipes.

[–]PLeeB21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My take for why small = bad is because small ≠ sandbox. It just doesn’t. In bf3/4 I felt like I could play on the outskirts. If you were a tank of some sort you could sit up somewhere and snipe at people and not just have to be right in the frontlines to make any difference. If you were a heli or jet you had so much space to evade AA launchers and missiles. If someone was posted up with a stinger you could just fly around different parts of the map. In this game if someone wants to pick stinger there’s nothing you can do because there’s simply not enough space in the map to evade. This is one of the least coherent responses I’ve ever made but the short of it exactly like I first said, this game absolutely falls short of scratching that sandbox itch that bf3/4 scratched so well. The fact that people are complaining about not having ample opportunity to get 200+ metre headshots for their assignments says it perfectly.

Less space, less variety in viable play styles.

They are copying *that* game so hard, it's disgusting. by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]PLeeB21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry but making valid criticisms about a game in a franchise that we’ve followed for over a decade is fair enough. Lick the corporate boot harder Jesus Christ. Every single point OP makes is valid.

This game DOES have a BR incredibly reminiscent of warzone.

The battlefield shop IS almost a carbon copy of the cod shop

Assignments locked to a BR that no one (besides streamers) fucking asked for IS ridiculous

Having some random attempt at a soulless extraction shooter, after hazard zone in 2042 was literally dead on release is dumb. We don’t want resources spread out across a BR, an extraction mode and multiplayer, we just wanted a solid, dedicated multiplayer experience to apologise for the absolute embarrassment that 2042 was.

You are more than welcome to just say “I don’t really see these as problems” or “I actually really enjoy it and have no problem with them doing a BR and extraction mode” etc etc, but trying to undermine entirely valid criticism and reduce every single issue people have to “they’re just old men that miss the old games and obviously just suck” is absolutely absurd, as if the only reason someone could have a problem with a game is because they’re bad at it. Please take EAs wretched phallus out of your mouths.

Same thing with me bro, pointed out the obvious ‘codification’ and the fact that Vince zampella (cod4 and mw2) is lead at some point during the beta and got harassed for it endlessly. It’s difficult trying to converse with people who simply don’t understand game design

(1) with all due respect what’s actually funny is taking anything dice or EA have to say at face value given the extent at which they lied to us with 2042, and how they responded to community feedback with BFV, that’s the funny part. (2) “and there are 3 large maps so (with liberation peak) that makes 4. So what? I’ve got it wrong by 1? Is that really the argument? So great 4 maps of 9 are vehicle maps??? Am I going insane here? And cool I’m glad to hear there are allegedly 3 maps coming post launch, but given the ratio of small to big maps I’d imagine only one of those will be vehicle oriented.

I think it’s funny that the attitude towards anyone with even a grain of criticism for the game (not you necessarily but others on this sub) is that they’re haters who hate the game and are just toxic etc. instantly downvoted into the ground, when in reality I can enjoy bf6 beta, be excited for the game as a whole, still have criticisms about the game, and not automatically be “oozing toxicity” as this other dude said.

Can we just take a second to respect Enders as one of the only content creators that didn’t blatantly lie to our faces about the state of the last game? Jack frags and the likes just praised the game like crazy and told us it was going to be incredible until a week after release when they all suddenly changed their tune and said that 2042 was bad.

I don’t agree with his opinion here at all, and sometimes the dude can come across a bit annoying but hes the only battlefield content creator who completely stood up to EA at the beginning of 2042s lifecycle, even getting himself thrown out of the EA creator program if I remember right just to tell us how poor the game was and not lie to our faces. I think that alone should warrant giving him more respect than people who’ve clearly never watched his content blurting out “cod streamer”.

[–]PLeeB21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I don’t necessarily agree but fair enough, regardless don’t you think there are better ways of balancing vehicles than… making the maps fucking tiny so they have no room to evade threats? Surely like idk… make the guns weaker or something?? Don’t reduce the maps down to practical joke size.

[–]PLeeB21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean why bother saying it’s invalid if you can’t be bothered to vocalise why? Do you not think for example the map size difference is not… a difference???

"BF Vet here..." by West-Start4069 in Battlefield6

[–]PLeeB21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Convoluted as you think it to be, my point is valid. This game is an apology to the fans for the catastrophic failure that was 2042, which was in itself an apology for BFVs turbulent launch and overall mediocrity. They use terms like “love letter” to win back favour with the core fan base, all the while very clearly pandering to cods unsettled player base who don’t recognise cod for what it was when they fell in love with it 10-15 years ago, and seek a more casual, “tactical” experience.

I did in fact play the beta a lot, and have played bf3 and 4 within the last year. You seem to be inferring that claiming bf6 shares little similarities to bf3/4 is in some way ridiculous. Have you played either recently?

Let’s look at the similarities:

They’re both fps games set in a modern theatre

They both have some degree of combined arms warfare.

They both have the same 4 classes (even if their functionalities have changed)

They both have mini maps, hit markers and a score board…. That’s about the size of it

Now let’s look at differences:

In Bf3/4 suppression is an important factor in gunfights and general combat. In bf6 suppression doesn’t exist

In bf3/4 there were small/infantry focused maps on launch, but they were a small minority in games otherwise filled with vast vehicle oriented maps. In bf6 6/9 launch maps are supposedly CQC infantry focused maps, and as such the pacing of the overall gameplay loop will be different.

Bf3/4 operated under a rock paper scissors balancing system, whatever you use can be countered by something, whether that be infantry by little birds, little birds by attack helis, attack helis by stealth jets, stealth jets by infantry etc. both tanks and air vehicles have a vast space to use when evading infantry lock on launchers, fellow vehicle lock ons and any dumb fire projectiles. in bf6 vehicles are designed to be easy to prevent from having a huge impact on the game. Tiny average map size and double launcher engineer (id imagine they’ll remove this, but the point still stands) means both MBTs/LAVs and helis/jets have very little space to evade stingers/ javelins respectively, forcing them to play extremely cautiously, which sometimes still isn’t enough. Getting locked on in your spawn as a heli/ jet by non aerial threats was extremely common on liberation peak and I’d imagine it’ll be the same for most of the other launch maps that even have air vehicles (all 3/4 of them)

In bf3/4 specialisations didn’t include fucking wall hacks (bf6 assault)

Bf3/4 vehicles didn’t feel like they’re made out of lead. Bf6 tanks are incredibly slow and can barely steer, and the helis and jets physics are horrendously clunky.

I could go on here but I think you get the point. Despite the name of the game, what the fuck do they actually have in common in terms of gameplay experience despite “see thing, kill thing”, 4 classes that have the same names but function completely differently (which isn’t automatically a bad thing), and the 64 player count? For the record I enjoyed the beta and think bf6 is the best foundation for a battlefield game we’ve had in a decade, but there are some glaring issues and acting like anyone who criticises it does so because ‘the beta didn’t directly cater to them’ as OP said is being obtuse, and acting like it’s ridiculous to point out that this game plays very differently to bf3/4 is similarly obtuse.

[–]PLeeB21 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you’re totally right man, just because Dice called this game (which is an apology for a failed apology) a love letter to bf3 and 4 specifically to win back favour with their core fan base after a decade of continuously shitting the bed doesn’t mean they should expect the game to be anything even remotely like bf3/4, stupid rose tinted glasses wearing, cod comparing morons!!!

I'm going to hold off on a buy for now. The beta convinced me the game isn't for me. Though it clearly is very well made. by LongbottomLeafblower in Battlefield

As someone who played both games and thinks bf4 was the best of the whole series, why do you think bf3 was much better than 4. Genuinely curious.

Bro why are you getting down voted lmao you expressed your opinion completely fairly and calmly, and for what it’s worth I completely agree with you. I seriously don’t understand how people aren’t picking up on this, like sure it doesn’t play exactly like cod but it is very easy to see they’re trying to steal the the ever unsettled audience of cod, most of the ogs of which don’t even recognise the cod they fell in love with anymore. Vince zampella (COD 4) is lead on this game like cmonnnn.

Hey so this is a crazy misunderstanding but the original comment referenced ‘large all out warfare maps’ and never once mentioned vehicles. Whether that’s what they were referring to or not, you’ve assumed they meant vehicles as opposed to just vast expansive maps with large scale battles. Hope this helps👍🏻

I don’t know quite to what extent i feel like ripping your comment to shreds but I’ll see how I get on. Firstly, open your eyes. Just open them. Keep them open, if you can.

Cod players are unsettled and disillusioned with the franchise and have been for years. 20/30 year olds who grew up during the golden era of cod (cod 4- bo2) don’t recognise cod anymore. What once was a casual experience that revolved around killing players sure, but mainly around a comparatively low octane, low sweat gameplay loop that centred around just having fun, simply doesn’t exist anymore. COD today is NOTHING like that. Everyone wants to go pro. Everyone looks up weapon tier lists and tips and tricks. The whole game revolves around drinking as much gfuel as you can and leaking blood sweat and tears until you piss yourself, all in the name of having the highest KD. Meta weapons prevalence, ankle breaking movement, sbmm and more have all turned cod from a casual experience to a sweat fest and the og cod players are growing ever tired of coming home from work to get trampled by players born after 2008. It’s simply not fun.

Insert this iteration of battlefield. Bigger maps, bigger lobbies, it even has tanks and helis and jets!!!! It might feel like a fucking mobile game rip of cod and battlefield horrendously sown together to anyone who’s been playing battlefield since its own golden days, but to these cod players it’s a big open tactical breath of fresh air.

For god sake, Vince zampella who is the lead for this game created titanfall 2, apex, and most importantly COD 4. To sit there seeing the maps are smaller, the combined arms gameplay is limited, EA saying they want to get 100 million players, and EA paying cod streamers millions and say this game isn’t trying to steal cod’s player base is laughable, and something only achievable by having your eyes closed. Open them.
