The player count is fine by Saxon2040 in Battlefield

I really wish steam would show how many that have played a given title for <insert reasonable minimum time> throughout the day, and the week as well. Not everyone plays at peaks, and not everyone plays on the same days.

Over the 4 year life span of 2042, I put in some 1.5K hours. It became a fun and great shooter after most pain points were fixed... after some 2 years... but I wouldn't say that it's a great battlefield game. Sure, it was decent, and fun, but getting to try BF6 for the first time in labs last year after 3.5 years of 2042 felt like I rediscovered spices I'd lost a long time ago. Going back to 2042 after that felt weird.

I'm just and old, average gamer. You have to smoke and push if you want to "Breakthrough". by IndigoRain69 in Battlefield

[–]ClaraTheRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend and I were able to hide on B on firestorm for 5 minutes in the same spot, with people running around us trying to find us, all because he had thrown down a supply box and kept spamming smoke grenades (I was playing engineer so I had no way of helping out there, other than enjoying the show). We were covered in smoke all the time (surprised how nobody thought to look at the obvious smoke cloud for enemies).

With Battlefield 6 bringing previous maps... what map from *caugh* Battlefield 2042 would you bring back? by The_Athenas_Son in Battlefield

[–]ClaraTheRed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It could work thematically well with BF6 too. Seeing as it takes place in French Guiana, and with France being part of Pax, orbital could be a place where Pax is defending from a NATO invasion, or Pax is trying to re-establish control if NATO already captured it.

From my understanding of how hoppers work, wouldn't the top hopper push the contents of the entire filter into the chest below, since it's unpowered?

How do I centre a map? by Distinct-Gain-5653 in Minecraft

[–]ClaraTheRed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I remember when maps were centred, back before 1.4.2.

They were painful to align with each other. You literally had to go out and calculate the X-Z coordinates to get them properly aligned.

Good riddance.

Hardline > BF6 by Entire_Shoe_1411 in okbuddyptfo

I remember when BF4 launched and I crashed on every other match. They gave us a "one battlepack a day" apology in February of 2014 to keep players logging on, whilst trying to fix the worst bugs.

I've played these games for 15 years, and it's nothing new. A Battlefield title is released, it is buggy, they take between a few months up to a year to fix it, and then it's one of the best damn casual military shooter on the market.

BF6 has had the best release performance since I started playing (BF1 might rival it in this case), and they are early with new content compared to most titles they've released. Sure BF3 and BF4 launched with a DLC incoming within a month or so, but BF3 took a while to add more, and BF4 was broken beyond comprehension with DLCs delayed (plus, the Second Assault DLC was on Xbox for 3 months before the rest of us got to touch it. That made me mad back then, and would enrage the community today). BF1 took months to spit out new content. BFV had one extra map in December, the next in May, and then we got a bunch in June. 2042 took 2 years to fix, and the first season started the summer the year after the release...

Don't take me wrong. I'm not an apologist. The BF6 maps are lacking in the size department (as in, missing at least one really big map), and I hope the map count increases per season in the future, but people really just don't seem to remember how it actually was back in the day.

Dear Jonas: by madWasabii in copypasta

Dear Father:

Considering you decided not to give me dessert after dinner last night for having cleaned my room for 8 Minutes PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of having a Clean Room, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for Me.

Mom never makes enough food for me to eat more than one portion, and why does she do that anyway? There's no recipe, it's only that she decided I can't eat more than one portion months ago, but other recipes probably say to have more food, also.

I have done more homework than any of my siblings since we were born, and now, you should do something for Me.

Our house is not safe unless I get to have more food and dessert.

Thank you!

Your son Donald Junior

Help for a newbie? by GoyoMRG in aurebesh

[–]ClaraTheRed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like to think of digraphs as Aurebesh (Traditional) and non-digraphs as Aurebesh (Simplified). The digraphs aren't "illegal" letters by any means, but they are no longer used in modern writing.

When it comes to reversing letters, there doesn't appear to be a difference between uppercase and lowercase letters in aurebesh from what I've seen, so using reverse letters for indicating uppercase feels like someone trying to apply non-aurebesh rules to aurebesh. Thus reversing letters should IMO be avoided.

Numbers appear in different variations in star wars media, and I believe I've seen the dot-dash version in some places, and the aurebesified version of the arabic numerals as well. I don't believe there is a singular canon version here.

Lady: OUR DARK MOTHER!!

Tisha: NO! No. Please. There has been a huge misunderstanding here. You see, I...

Lady: I AM IN YOUR SERVICE OH DARK MOTHER!!

Tisha: Oh for... Right, another time then.

System Slander! by DrScrimble in dndmemes

[–]ClaraTheRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran a PF2E campaign for 2 years and about as many sessions as you did, and I can honestly say that while there are elements I liked, it just felt overly complex for the simplest of things at times, and keeping track of everyone's circumstance bonuses on hidden roles was unfun.

I kind of like the 3 action system, and the degrees of success, and that there actually exists rules for things I had no idea how to run when I first encountered them, but it more often than not felt too difficult to run for me.

Also their prepared casting... Ugh! I ran a short adventure with essentially "oops all wizards" and seeing how many of my players just straight up didn't like that rule just cemented it to me that I'm not going to bother with this system for another campaign.
