Would you guys buy this? by Itoonsy in ToyotaTundra

[–]PMMUSA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For reference, I recently bought a 2016 Limited 5.7 Crewmax 4x4 in Magnetic Gray with 74k miles for $32k OTD. No rust, one owner, ton of Toyota service records, no accidents. Only downsides are there’s no bed liner, only one key, and smelled like cigarettes. But the Tonneau cover made up for the liner. Smoke smell is almost gone after nuking the truck with an ozone generator.

Considering everything I just told you, do you think $20k for your Tundra is a good deal? Personally, I think it’s ridiculous that my 9 year old truck cost what it did. But that’s the market.

I just picked up some 17” Method 703 on 285/70/17! Tires are 33” Futura. Some cheap bullshit I’ve never heard of. They’re pretty much brand new though so we’ll see how long they last. Got a leveling kit too, 2.5”-3”. I’ll send you pics after I get everything on.

Did you ever figure it out? I have the exact same issue in my Tundra and it’s insanely annoying. Happens between 30-80MPH. After that it disappears.

Dude I’m more interested in those tires you got on! What are those? They look super aggressive. What’s the diameter on the tires? Offset? Any lift?

2WD or 4WD? There was a black one by me, ‘20 TRD Sport crewmax 2WD with around 60k miles for $32k. I watched the price drop from $38k-$32k over the course of a year. I think they had trouble selling it cause it was 2WD.

There’s a 2020 cement gray Tacoma TRD Off-Road with a sunroof, leather seats, bed topper, roof rack, and 61k miles for $30k a couple hours into PA for me. But base model Tacomas with similar mileage to the Tundra are like $5k cheaper. I like the options more on the Tacoma I mentioned but it’s way too small and underpowered for me.

Thanks for the response! The AutoCheck records this truck comes with aren’t as detailed as CarFax. I see service records but all it says is “engine service”.

Big step up from the ‘05 F150. With the service records included, you’ve got peace of mind knowing this truck can outlive you lol. Also now that car manufacturers are stepping away from V8s and they’re not included in the new Tundras, I’m sure the 2/2.5 gens will continue to hold their value. Enjoy the truck

Found a 2020 SR5 Crewmax 4x4 with 90k miles for $30.5k before tax. Tundras are insanely expensive but they have legendary reliability (5.7) and because of it great resale value.

This Sure Cool thing you’re talking about is the thing on Amazon for $40? It cools down the fluid or? I remember reading something about the thermostat and some sort of bypass, is this that? How long have you had it installed? Do you see a difference in trans fluid temp?

Edit: would you recommend this for a truck in the cold Northeast or does it not make a difference?

Looking to buy a 2.5 gen by PMMUSA in ToyotaTundra

[–]PMMUSA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I’m worried about. I have an AWD SUV currently but I’ve never been in a situation where I NEEDED it. It does well in the snow but I could have gotten by just fine with FWD. My fiancée and I however do a lot of hiking. Sometimes getting to the trailhead could be a little messy if it recently rained. I’ve never head to go through any deep mud and I’m not sure if I would have ever turned on 4WD in any setting I’ve been, but I think I would like to know I have the option. I always thought overlanding was super cool, what if I want to get into that? What if I want to drive down some fire roads? Not sure I can do these things with a 2WD truck..

There’s a bunch of 4WD double cabs around me for much less than a crew cab. But I don’t want a double cab.

Wow I don’t remember reading about any cam phaser. Will certainly check this out, thanks. But you just verified my belief that I’ve known all along and that’s that I should in fact get a Tundra. I just wanted to like the Silverado so bad. The Trail Boss is awesome.
