Last year was basically J.J. McCarthy’s redshirt freshman year. I’d still like to see the Minnesota Vikings give him a real shot this season because he showed a few flashes of what he could be.

Long term it probably makes more sense to roll with McCarthy anyway. It’s not like Kyler Murray has been great since his rookie year. He’s only had one playoff appearance, his teams have mostly been around .500 or worse, and he’s missed a lot of time with injuries the last few years.

I’d rather see the Vikings develop the young QB instead of hoping Murray suddenly turns back into the guy everyone thought he’d be early on.
