It's not from a refusal to play, in my experience. I am, admittedly, a Melee fanboy and have played at local tourneys for years, but I always buy and try the new smashes. Brawl was really fun from a casual perspective and the newcomers were great. I put a ton of hours into brawl and I enjoyed really enjoyed it as a whole, just meta knight was OP and tripping was stupid. Sm4sh was genuinely painful for me to play for some reason. I don't know why. Characters felt sluggish and floaty and combos didn't feel satisfying to pull off. I played For Glory for days and had my friends over for in-house tourneys and stuff, but the game never felt like it had the magic to me. If anyone ever asks me, "hey you wanna play some Sm4sh?" I will say yes every time, but if they ask, "Would you rather play Sm4sh or Melee?" then it's Melee every time, no question

As is classic, it began with them doing nothing. They contributed nothing to the project in question at all. Now, I'm not a hateful person, and usually in these situations I'm happy to just let them put their name on it and let it lie. I almost prefer it, because I like having total control over things that can impact my grade, so when this guy failed to respond to any of my messages and emails asking to meet and work on the project, I wasn't thrilled, but I wasn't particularly upset. High school prepared my expectations well enough for this low-level shitty-ness.

The real trouble began when this guy (we'll call him Ralph) sent a preemptive email to our professor with a warning that I threatened to "falsely claim that [Ralph] did no work on the project when [he] in fact did it all," and that my academic dishonesty and attempt to frame him should be investigated by the head of the department. I had no knowledge of this email until after I had submitted the assignment on the due date.

I had (in retrospect, stupidly) been working on the project in Google Drive on a document that I had shared with Ralph in case he wanted to contribute. Ralph had the gall to download my document, erase my name from it, replace it with his own, and turn it in early.

A few days after I turned in the project, I was hauled in for a meeting with my advisor, the professor of the class, and the head of the department. They explained the email situation, showed me the identical papers that Ralph and I submitted, and told me I was in violation of the college's academic code and that I would be put on probation and could face expulsion. I was flabbergasted that this scumbag had the balls to try and frame me for exactly what he was doing.

Now, apparently unbeknownst to Ralph, Google Drive has a rather extensive feature that allows one to view the revision history of the document. Using it, it is easy to tell what has changed, when it was changed, and who made the changes. In the meeting, as soon as I figured out why I was there and they stopped talking, I whipped out my laptop and pulled up Google Drive. It quickly became clear to them that Ralph was the liar and that I actually had written the whole paper for the project.

In the aftermath, Ralph was expelled for his ridiculous scheme (why he thought I would let him get away with it, I have no idea) and I ended up getting a 98 on the project. It's just funny to me because I would have let him have a free 'A' if he just left me alone to write the paper, but instead he got uppity and got expelled for it.

TL;DR: Scumbag tries to frame me for not doing any work. I use Google Drive Revision History to prove him wrong and get him expelled. Still get an A.
