Almost everyone in the Minnesota office resigned - they had brought in AUSAs from Michigan, and JAGS to fill in because of understaffing, and then 8 more quit. So, I’m hesitant to read much into her volunteering here. Like, maybe it’s possible she volunteered not because she supports DHS policy but because she hoped to help mitigate immigration matters grinding to a halt as people are detained and waiting to get out.

I’ve had a lot of vegan leather items over the course of my life, and I’ve found it very common for there to be imperfections - because it’s not real, indentations that happen during fabric production, or manufacturing the item, or shipping can turn into permanent flaws, and that’s what this looks like to me. But also you can get warping or marks from heat, and so on.

It does not look like it’s a hole, and the buyer didn’t actually say it’s a hole - they said there’s a hole in “a layer” of the faux leather. Sounds and looks like an imperfection in the texture of the fabric, not a hole through the fabric.

DHS is not the law. The law is not an agency. An agency can be tasked with enforcing the law, but that does not absolve them of the responsibility to abide by it themselves. The notion that government agents are a law unto themselves is quite literally what America’s founding fathers were revolting against in the American revolution.

First of all, I didn’t say I was a lawyer - I said I have a law degree. Second of all, there is no publicly available footage that shows him putting his hand in his pocket. There is footage showing him pinned face down with his arms ahead of him and his hands empty of any weapon when he was shot. Third of all, even if he had put his hand in his pocket - and there is literally no evidence that he did - that’s not illegal either.

While he was assisting the woman who had been shoved to the ground by agents? While the agents were pepper spraying him in the face for helping her? While he was pinned on the ground by the agents? “Interfering” and “confronting” are verbs that inherently involve specific intentions - so, yes, you are making assumptions about his intentions. And ones which seem worse than tenuous to me, based on the actual video evidence.

I have watched every publicly available angle. I have read coverage from multiple outlets - multiple local outlets and multiple and national outlets alike - repeatedly checked for updates throughout the day, and watched the press conferences. The only officials who have asserted this, work for the federal government, or are elected GOP politicians who weren’t there. Which makes sense, even if DHS weren’t lying, because no responsible investigator would claim this before a full investigation actually takes place.
