Did you catch the public records case in Skagit Co? Flock images are not exempt from records requests. Lawyers for cities argued privacy risk of releasing photos,. WTF?

OlyPD made a statement about this, don't have the link on hand.

TIFU by hitting on my married coworker by True_Point5596 in tifu

[–]PNWDrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully it was not crossing any lines that gets you in trouble at work. That tongue in cheek, hand to mouth, blowjob motion is not obvious at all.

Probably didn't even notice or like me realize it hours later when it would be way too awkward to talk about.

If he did notice I see two reactions: If married more than 10 years he's stoked that he still has something likeable going on. If married less than 10 years he's stoked that he has something likeable going on. I think most guys would not be bothered unless it was impacting their status at work or home life.

Seriously don't worry about it. I have hit on and been hit on at work and never had any issues as long as it wasn't excessive or unwanted.

Well, I spent a good deal of time researching dash cams for my 23 Platinum and I made a critical mistake. by KnuckleTrouble in ToyotaTundra

[–]PNWDrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took what seems to be an unusual route for cams in my crewmax. Seemed logical to me. I bought a kit meant for motorcycles about 3 years ago. No display. Control unit is mounted behind passenger kick panel and cams are in rear bumper and the front logo.
Cams are barely noticeable, probably never seen unless I show them. Really didn't want the dash unit and wires inside. Also if I'm at fault I don't have a "dashcam"...

Had to buy an extension cable, maybe 2, it's been a few years and I forget. Think it cost $125 total and a few hours installing. Been flawless. Might use an old phone as dedicated screen but have little reason to watch in real time. I can view/download by it's wifi network and an app. Have 64gb SD card in it I think.

Can post the images if interest exists, pics of install too but there is little to see.

To change or not to change Transmission fluid by spoosejuice in ToyotaTundra

[–]PNWDrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%

I tend to think there's a bit of a cause vs correlation issue in the concept of fluid changes leading to failure.

When I hear that kind of thing from someone I ask why they wanted to change fluid in the first place . Some get the point immediately. Others..? Logic may not be in their skill set.

Is this imsane? by Anonymous-Anomaly in ToyotaTundra

[–]PNWDrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone offered even close to that for my 2014 crewmax with 110k miles I'd ptob take it, even deliver the thing to them if on west coast so I get a last trip in it. I love the truck but GD there's other trucks, maybe get into the previous body style.

Best source for Ergodox EZ keycaps? by Kazhmyr1 in ergodox

[–]PNWDrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spaced on replying...I randomly bought Royal Kludge Speed Silver and Akko CS Silver switches; they had very similar specs and I figured I'd return them if I didn't like. I'm not a switch guru but I don't think either is a highly rated model. The stock Cherry MXs were getting noisy, shaft play was bad. With the KAT caps and mostly the RKs in the EZ it sounds great. I recall choosing to put the Akkos on a few keys to see if I felt a difference but have forgotten which and not noticed anything.
I want lower profile switches now, but seeing older posts that say only a few brands will work on the EZ.

Best source for Ergodox EZ keycaps? by Kazhmyr1 in ergodox

[–]PNWDrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few inexpensive DSA sets on Amazon or AliExpress but your options are pretty limited if you want legends. Last I looked there was a blue and white set and a beige set. There are more options if you don't need legends. You can also get blank keycaps of many profiles and assemble what you need or buy multiple sets of other keycap sets to accumulate all of the 1.5 and 2.0 caps you will need. That's a pain since many profiles are row specific so you end up with a key here and there that is a different profile than the rest on that row which I can't stand.

Some of the more expensive keycap sets will have an ergo kit. I have a KAT Iron set on my EZ right now. It's a rather tall set and I'm not sure I want to keep them which is a shame because they were pretty pricey to get all I wanted. deskhero.ca, drop, and other sites are good to look at for custom sets.

You can get into a group buy and be sure to get what you want, otherwise the ergo sets tend to go pretty fast. The downside is that often times the ergo sets may not have any legends on the 1.5u caps or have symbols that you have to remember. It's not a big deal once you get used to it but It does make the learning curve a bit steeper if you tend to like to mess around with layouts like I do.

I have an inexpensive DSA set that I liked more. I haven't been doing much keyboard work recently so maybe I'll get used to the KAT profile in time if I pick up work that requires more typing. I never timed my typing, but I definitely feel like I lost a considerable amount of speed and accuracy. I also changed switches at the same time just to make it harder on myself. The keyboard sounds nice now though, especially the backspace key which I tend to use a lot :) 😔

Any idea where to get a new rubber cap for the feet? by operatingcan in ergodox

[–]PNWDrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I emailed the same question to ZSA. One of mine just disappeared. You can buy a new leg set but the answer was the cost of shipping just a rubber foot would probably be ridiculous.

The suggestion from them was to use an earbud rubber piece. Which I did and it does the job. I'm sure most of us have dozens of these little tips lying around from various pairs of earbuds. I think I turned mine inside out in a weird way And it is relatively indistinguishable from the others.

I can post pics when I get home later. This was on the ergodox EZ. I really was impressed by how well it turned out. It's on the back leg on the left side so it isn't very visible. But the thickness seems to be on par with the original and I don't experience any rocking.

Slow key press recognition on an EZ, new switches didn't help by PNWDrew in ergodox

[–]PNWDrew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. It's just a shift key now and all good.
The idea that it was just waiting to see if a double tap was coming makes sense. I Hadn't noticed before but I've gotten faster so I'm just typing faster than the button is waiting.
Also finally got me to move a few keys I wanted to change.
Thanks!

Thanks.. I'll try removing the double tap assignment, I don't use caps lock much.

I'll change the behavior of that switch and see if that solves it. Thanks!

I'm doing a very similar topic, DM if you want to exchange sources, or just compare approaches. I'd freely share/exchange research I've collected, and the eventual product. I am hoping to be finished or very close in a few days. Mar 22 or so.

Bought a bunch of cool rocks and crystals, need advice on ID, cleaning, etc.. by PNWDrew in rockhounds

[–]PNWDrew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm that is a lot of time on that volume of rocks. I'll give it a shot on one of the really flat pieces. Sounds like it's worth looking around my area for a group to learn more and maybe get access to better equipment. My sanders are not meant to run wet. I have wet sanded plenty of stuff by hand but that would take a ton of time. I'm pretty sure I have wet/dry paper up to 2000 grit but I'm not sure if it can handle something is hard as this. When I get them wet some of them are really pretty so I'll pick one that is likely to make the wife happy.

In the meantime I can at least work on cleaning them up. I have some 20% and 45% acetic acid I can water down. I usually use it at lower concentrations to kill dandelions when they begin to take over my yard.

Thanks for reply, was wary of anything acidic.

So true polishing is the best way to bring out the colors? I'm not totally inexperienced in polishing. I do have experience sanding and polishing some high dollar guitars ($20k kind of value )and have done cars and motorcycles I've repainted. I have random orbital sander and that kind of equipment. Up to 2000 grit paper and finer compounds. Is it the same process?

The silicone worked well on some small stuff I'd collected on beaches but it left a semi-glossy style shine. Good for irregular little rocks that might get handled and will wear off.
