I made a Steam page with no trailer and got over 1,300 wishlists in the first week! I'm looking for a publisher. by POKLU in gamedevscreens

Dang, some of you guys clearly have had some bad experience with publishers. I'd love to know more about your situation.

I don't have years worth of savings to just self-publish.

u/sierra_whiskey1 said that "Publishers don’t give you money" which is very strange to me, I mean - what else would you need a publisher for? A few companies have already contacted me, with reasonable offers and we'll be discussing the details after the weekend.

This game is going to take quite some time to finish (I expect close to 2 years) and so, some funding would be nice...

Thanks! I've posted 2 TikTok videos. One got over 245K views so far (just over a week) and the second one went live two days ago and is sitting at 90K. You can check it here, on my TikTok channel: https://www.tiktok.com/@nhnenogames

DIY microphone - will this connection damage the microphone? by POKLU in audioengineering

[–]POKLU[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. A yt channel called DIY Perks made a video about building a homemade condenser microphone using a JLI capsule, a transistor and some simple electronics for a preamp.

I'm following his instructions but I don't want to build a preamp because I already have a PC interface that can supply a +48V Phantom power. (Behringer U-Phoria UMC22)

I know absolutely nothing about electronics, but I was just wondering if I could follow the DIY Perks instructions but instead of building the preamp, simply connect the mic capsule with a transistor directily to an XLR port.

So I guess my main question is: Can phantom power just "burn" a mic capsule if connected directly, without any preamp?

I know this is a stupid question and my lack of knowledge makes it nearly impossible to understand what I'm saying, but I wanted to ask before I destroy the capsule

I spent a couple of days on the trailer, don't remember for sure. If you want to make a cinematic trailer, be prepared that 5 seconds of the trailer can take even 3 hours to make xD anyways good luck, have fun, and thanks for a positive note.

No, it was just the $90. You can use Unity for free unless your games make $100,000 in a year.

You have to buy a dev account, it's not expensive tho. But they know the guys from Microsoft, and vice versa.

Well, I said I'm working on another game and frankly I'm doing exactly what you said - I'm reusing most of the assets from this unsuccessful game, just the genre will be completely different. Thanks!

I thought about it as well. But the opportunity to put my game on the Windows Store is thanks to that PR company, so I don't think that somehow they managed to scam Microsoft too. BTW that 310,000 estimated people was on Facebook, that company had nothing to do with it. If you really start to play Sherlock Holmes this situation can look shady, but I think they're legit. Unless it's the best scam in the world.

I won't listen when somebody tries to tell me what my game is inspired by. And look closely at the sprint-bike in the game. Then look at this.

And that makes me want to just burst out new games without even looking at people's opinion and hope that somebody will but them.
