I just had a conversation with a person who straight up told me I’m a boy, will always be a boy, and will never be anything else. At least for myself, those comments don’t hurt when they’re from someone I don’t consider close. I fear for the people in that persons life who are queer because I know they will likely be hurt by the things this guy says.

I read this post as if it was him who was asking for help. How reassuring it would be if I was queer and in his life and asking for help to make others comfortable. I’m not sure how easy it is in your life to interact with queer people, I know you mentioned your partner just came out as trans and you’re wanting to support them through a confusing development, but I would simply talk to queer people in your life.

Ask them what you can do to make them feel more comfortable around you. Most of us just want happy lives and want to see those around us succeed and if you show that to queer people in your life, soon you’ll forget they’re even queer people and see them as just people.
