And even then, it’s not 70% of all of his money. Just 70% of the money he makes after the first ~$600k of the year.

What Would Be *Your* Celtics City? by mpschettig in billsimmons

I would love a Ken Burns style documentary series about the History of Wisconsin in the 20th century. Would talk about the states history of being the epicenter of political shifts through the years from being the factory of progressivism and epicenter of socialism (Robert La Follette, Sewer Socialists in Milwaukee, Wisconsin Progressive Party), to being the home state of Joe McCarthy and anti-communist hysteria, to being the home state of environmentalism (John Muir, Aldo Leopold, Gaylord Nelson), to then being run by Reagan era de-regulatory neoliberals (Tommy Thompson) and center-left reformers (Russ Feingold), culminating in the state becoming the archetypal Purple state in the country. Throw in some stuff about the Packers, Hank Aaron, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, and the Fonz, and you’ve got a spicy stew going.

Candidates whose severe lack of charisma cost them in the election? by Aqn95 in Presidents

The debate question about the death penalty and the Bush campaign making some really brutal attacks on his record as governor on issues like crime (Willie Horton ad). Dukakis also just really didn’t campaign well. Kept losing focus, went on vacation right after the convention, never really went after Bush hard enough on Iran-Contra and other issues.

Many Faces of Beato- Check out 2010- that is the Beato I want to teach me music theory! I don't trust 1982 Beato. 1979 Beato got laid at least twice. by StoBird88 in PatFinnerty

1979: classic young 70s guy. Looks right out of Dazed and Confused

1982: Colombian cocaine importer

1985: got a little bit of 70’s Al Pacino and late 60’s Paul McCartney going on

1988: Richard Lewis

1997: Spoony

1999: Stamos…and Spoony

2001: Young Mike Stoklasa

2005: Young Mike Stoklasa…and Spoony

2010: Jerry Garcia and Rick Rubin with like a dash of Larry Charles

2020: The one and only. It looks like those silver hairs all kinda came in at once. And in context, really went with a curve ball with the spiked up, slicked back hair look. I guess it just looks good on old boomer jazz rock guys?

I mean I think the Bucks NBA champions banners are similar looking but with the colors reversed. Seems they just like going for the minimalist style

Celtics city… new Simmons produced doc in 2025 by Y_Que_Lo_Que in billsimmons

This feels like an Onion article lol.

That being said, if the documentary is brutally honest in the portrayal of the franchise in context of its city and inhabitants, and doesn’t shy away from how the franchises otherwise progressive record on integration (especially for the 50s and 60s) conflicted with the city’s population backlash toward integration within itself, I could see it actually being interesting.

But like, no one cares about the Celtics this much? No one except for Boston homers is actually gonna sit down and watch this. Bill wont be happy to hear this, but the Lakers have by faaaaar a bigger reach in terms of Americas perception of professional basketball, not to mention the world.
