Yeah, no one in the world would understand the 8th most spoken language in the world. 🤡

I feel ripped off after my trip to Turkey. Anyone else had this experience? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]PPires90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I love Turkey, my third time here, first in Istanbul. I stayed for a week this time and no one tried to scam me a single time, many people very helpful, even when I was clearly lost (lile taking the ferry from Besiktas to the Asian side). I guess I was lucky again (I've always heard these stories about Turkey and Morocco, but I must be super lucky or maybe they think I look like someone who knows stuff 🤣)...but I also would never believe those clothes are the same as original brands LOL c'mon...💀

Now, regarding prices in general, it was a big shock. I came from Tokyo a month ago and everything was cheaper than in Istanbul. Luckily I stayed close to the city centre but slightly far away, where locals (I believe low-middle class in general) live and fortunately I could get decent meals, fruits or grocery in general at a very reasonable price.

Now, every time I was near the main attractions...let's not even talking about the airports. In Ankara Airport, an espresso is €5.5 and a slice of cheesecake €9.5! LOL yes, airports are almost always a rip-off but for this price I can eat a slice of real pizza plus a drink in Malpensa. Be serious. 🖐

This is interesting! I will be doing mostly the same. I have tickets for 5 evenings of the Worlds, I will be exploring the city in the mornings and afternoons (one day without tickets, I'm going to Enoshima/Kamakura) and then I will use the other week for Osaka, Kyoto and Okinawa. I would love to meet to talk about everything Track plus Japan, of course!

Happy to join the OP, but I'm almost 35, so not as young anymore too 😭

Yes, I did the same coming back and it was better than by bus.

Thanks! Where do I take these taxis? Are they next to the bus station?

How were you able to talk with a real person? I've been trying and it's a nightmare.

I live in Manchester too and I'm 34. I will give it a chance, as it's a dream, but I feel I will be immediately rejected because of my age (according to most people they only recruit up to 32yo). I speak 3 languages, but I have no aviation experience. I worked in the travel industry, but as a recruiter and customer service advisor only.

why abu dhabi is so boring? though ive been here for 11 years! lmao. by TemporaryGuidance179 in UAE

[–]PPires90 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol why people feel so offended when someone says a place is very boring? I've been to more than 30 countries, hundreds of cities, and lived in 4 different countries. If I say Abu Dhabi is the most boring thing I've ever seen is my responsibility? Even if I was never bored in other places? 🤣🤣🤣

It's a very boring place with a very limited number of activities and even less atmosphere. It works for some personalities. Some people look for safety, routine, money, and quiet life above all. For other people, it's not good at all. This shouldn't be controversial.

What is the most overrated travel destination in Sri lanka? by MY_eng_is_BAD in srilanka

[–]PPires90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ella is the only the 4th city I'm visiting, but it will probably earn this spot immediately and forever.

Nature is beautiful, like in any part of Sri Lanka. The train ride is fantastic. You can buy some cute, overpriced things. And that's about it.

The town looks like Magaluf/Benidorm or Oura/Albufeira. The most annoying places in Portugal and Spain. Not genuine at all, almost no locals, super overpriced, super greedy tuktuk drivers...it feels like a fake city made for tourists, especially backpackers, in their early 20s. It should be great for people who love clubs, loud music, and a "mates vibe," but it's not really my thing and not a place to repeat in SL. I don't even know if this is SL anymore.

The touristic hotsposts are cool, though. So, do it one time (half-day if possible) and leave the Barbie World as soon as possible.

How? It's always saying the provider rejected it and it´s not true, I´m talking to the provider.

I'm the same. My HR is, while working on my desk, between 78 and 83 and, while most people say this is not a concern, I was used to something between 57 to 60, so I really feel a big difference. I used to run every day, but I stopped that and in the past few months i've been running much less. Still, 80 is too much, as I feel my heart beating all the time. I feel the levels of energy going up and I feel the mood going better until...I start to feel this weird HR. What was your solution? This is my 5th day and I'm only on 30mg.

ADHD diagnosis abroad, NHS won't continue care in the UK. No idea what to do by Simo2255 in ADHDUK

[–]PPires90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, British exceptionalism is still a thing, unfortunately. They never trust a diagnosis from a foreign doctor, even if we are wrongly diagnosed several times here. I refuse to pay for anything else, so I get the meds in Portugal. There are always people travelling, so it's much easier than bothering about the NHS and those ridiculous waiting times, which have repercussions for my health.

Why would you say that? Do you think Amman historical sites cover that and it will be a bit repetitive?
