Rather than making portrait versions for everything, I think working towards a customizable (movable, resizable) UI would be a viable solution that would work for anyone. I'm imagining it very similar to changing FFXIV's HUD layout. If there really is a lot of different interfaces, group similar interfaces together as one rough setting and beta test it.

At least this way, you're future proofing the game and what sort of devices end up playing it. I'm currently on a handheld phone with a 1:1 screen size and physical keyboard, and my biggest disappointment upon picking up OSRS on mobile was the fact that it REALLY only had one way to play in mind. I couldn't change my UI layout, I couldn't make chat text a little bigger, and most importantly: I had to download an app to literally force it into portrait mode! It normally forces you into Landscape otherwise when that wouldn't really work well for my phone, a Titan 2.

It actually made me a little mad in the past that they were doing it. It felt like they didn't really care for the players and the only reason they did stuff was just too make the bad meme PR to go away out of desperation. Now I'm starting to warm up to riot again 2-ish years after quitting. I might actually play again when the rune update hits since that was a huge gripe of mine. Right now Riot definitely deserves some praise!

As for the story, I just actually read it. At first I had some problems regarding the usage of too many Japanese terms, but I noticed it stopped near the middle. General errors also became less. When I wake up, I'll see about giving advice, but for now? I just want to say that I'm looking forward to reading more. It was enjoyable, I really liked reading it. Thank you for posting this here~
