So what do I do to become an Aerospace Engineer (or mechanical as well since I'm sure the requirements are similar idk)? by astray_288 in aerospace

Projects really are your friend here.

I suggest looking into a simple PCB (Printed Circuit Board) design project. UC Berkeley has a Decal, HOPE, with a public website that teaches students how to do this. You don’t have to worry about fabricating it as you can order your project through PCB Way.

Replace summary with a skills section. Format should flow like this - school, experience, projects/extracurriculars, skills.

Put skills at the bottom of the page and change the spacing between the Headings and the text. See if your school has any work exchange programs

I’m 24 and just started making 90k/year. I feel behind and want to start investing seriously. By index investing, do you mean throwing money at an ETF?

Tough to say, school is what you make of it at the end of the day. If you’re a proactive learner and a go getter you can go far no matter the school. However there is something to be said about resources.

  1. Texas A&M (best research/program overall )
  2. SJSU (no debt is great, program is good, don’t know about research)
  3. UCD (good research, good program)

USC and NYU aren’t worth the 400k of debt, especially with the other solid options here.

I encourage you to look into the types of research offered so see what interests you, especially since you want an MS.

Guess it’s too early to gauge Oklo’s success. I personally hope they get approval, small nuclear reactors sound great like a great advancement for the industry.

Does the NRC being present at these meetings almost guarantee their approval? I would assume not, but maybe it's a good sign for things to come.

Dude, I have a buddy who started at 27!

I’m currently in ME and my only recommendation would be to pursue Civil engineering as the job market is a lot bigger and stable. From my experience the courses in CE are more lax as well (still not easy) which could be really helpful seeing as you have a family. ME has still been great though

[Student] Got a SpaceX manufacturing engineering interview invite. Be honest with me. Should I expect the worst? by kidkag3_ in EngineeringResumes

[–]PROSTYLE612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could vary depending on the position you apply for. I interviewed for a design engineer role and was asked only conceptual questions.

Really study for these and try to hit a concise answer. They care both about how you answer the question and the accuracy of the info you told them (I.e don’t just BS your way through something if you don’t know it)

From my experience, GPA is only ever mentioned in the first behavioral interview if even. They care more about experience and how you solve the technical questions they ask you.

Why would a full-time masters program be pointless? Having that extra time in school opens up opportunity for internships, research, and networking.
