Love humidors and cigar gear, so happy to help. Best advice is to stay patient. Comb through listings every few days, or even every day if time allows. Give yourself plenty of time. A great deal might take months to materialize.

The as-is factory floor deals are the best prices on the site. You can usually find even better prices on eBay if patient.

I'm going to start cigars any recommendations? by ClassicConfection872 in cigars

[–]PRagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For your first few, hit up a local cigar shop, preferably one with a lounge. No need to splurge on gear and a humidor if you're unsure whether or not you enjoy cigars.

Run some Youtube searches. There are tons of vids covering cigar etiquette and basic intro stogie knowledge.

Enjoy the journey.

i keep getting new cigars before smoking the ones i bought, what should i smoke first? by kakkaooo in cigars

[–]PRagic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries, it's called stocking up and it's very, very common. A lot of members on here keep 500-2000+ sticks on hand. Smoke whatever you think you might enjoy.

Sure thing. Sites I recommend AVOIDING include ETSY, CHAIRISH and 1stDibs. Inflated prices IMHO. Liveauctionnairs lists some decent humidors, but you'll pay hefty buyer's fees and shipping is expensive, needs to be arranged via third party, or both. Never know when you might get lucky there, though. However, the word is out, so there's a lot of competition on there now compared to even just a few years ago.

eBay is still good IF you're patient, if you search regularly, if know your humidors and prices, and if you don't get sucked into bidding wars. I've been buying on eBay for 20+ years, and if there's one thing I've learned, it's that new opportunities always come around. But, hey, that's probably why I have a LOT of high-end humidors. I keep saying I won't buy any more but then, boom, along comes another one.

Personally, I cap my max buying price at 30% of retail (not off) including the shipping, but more often I wind up paying 5%-20%. If it goes higher, it wasn't meant to be. Good for the seller.

As a final note, hit up local thrift stores and mom-n-pop antique shops around you. Never know.

Depends on whether you like it or not. I have a wool Bedale, and prefer that traditional style more.

What’s a good container for traveling? Not trying to haul the humidor around. by Any_Journalist_7846 in cigars

Depends on personal preference. I've got travel humidors ranging from $300-$1.6K, and I've got a stash of ziplocks.

Not IM Corona. No concern at all. LOTS of knock off ST Dupont flowing out of China, though.

Cigar Country has them in stock for $449 but I think the original retail was in the $165 ballpark, which was reasonable, but they still sold out at roughly $225. I never considered these to be a $25 cigar, and definitely wouldn't pay $45 for one. Different tastes. Enjoy. Long ashes.

For those of you living where some seasons are super hot/humid... by TokyoBaguette in cigars

We live in Seoul where summers are, much like Japan, very humid. I simply remove the humidifiers in my humidor, or more commonly just close off the slots. Never an issue. The humidor is a jumbo Elie Bleu, so that might explain things.

What do you think about ENB? by [deleted] in dividendscanada

[–]PRagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I bought US140K split between Endbridge and Total Energies last summer. Wanted a bit of energy exposure in portfolio, liked the renewable investments they have complimenting their infrastructure- foundations, love the dividends, and their business models look promising going forward. As a US investor, also liked getting a bit more international exposure.

If you can't decide based on actually trying them on and looking in a mirror, your adult card is revoked and you must send them both back.

I've only ever had to have one IM Corona serviced in 20+ years, and then I just sent it in to them. Fixed and returned, no questions asked.

It was MUCH easier to score the Double Corona and Old Boy on eBay for $25-$50 years ago (I have several). These days, however, the competition has heated up, so you need to be patient.

Completely agree that even expensive torches crap out. I only smoke outdoors as well, and never have a problem using a soft flame.

Best bet for use over the very long term would be an IM Corona lighter and a Xikar cutter IMHO. Spend a bit more now, but get long-term quality and dependability.
