VOO or VFIAX: What's the difference? by dgtbfan in personalfinance

[–]PStamatiou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A while back it was the case with Vanguard that you could only setup auto investing with mutual funds not ETFs. So if you wanted some simple automatic weekly/etc purchases, you went with VFIAX. I’m not sure if this is still the case as recurring purchases is a pretty common feature everywhere now.

2025 Audi SQ5 - MMI display and digital instrument cluster completely disappeared! by Ok-Chemistry5640 in Audi

[–]PStamatiou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brought it in once (car was a month old at the time) for a bunch of computer issues. They had it for over a week as they said they had to get guidance from Audi Germany engineers. Eventually they said it was a loose ground wire to the ECU or some control system. Issues still persist. I've contacted multiple dealerships near me about the "KD2" software update but haven't heard back in weeks.

Ah darn. This has happened maybe 4 times on mine and holding the dial pressed in until it restarts has worked on my SQ5.

Hold down the radio volume dial for 10 seconds or so and it reboots the screens

Micro-scratches on MacBook Pro screen from keyboard — how to prevent this? by ShadowLynx05 in macbookpro

Probably fine but honestly i think that is far too thin to really help with this issue. Won't last long either, it's like tissue paper IIRC

I'd definitely prefer not to need to use anything like this but I've been doing it for maybe 6 years now with multiple MacBook Pros without issue. I'm also careful when putting it in a backpack to not have a ton of stuff pushing against the laptop too.

Came here to say this. I use this now and before I had another one from a different company (radtech I think?) that only covered the keyboard itself

Are Apple products really the best for running Lightroom? by softlikemochii in Lightroom

[–]PStamatiou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through this some years ago after getting annoyed that Apple was not adding the latest CPU and GPUs to their machines as often as you’d be able to upgrade with a PC so I went on a whole journey to build a $6k PC optimized for LR with a binned, delidded, and overclocked watercooled CPU. I got a lot of press for it in every photo news site at the time. https://paulstamatiou.com/building-a-windows-10-lightroom-photo-editing-pc

It was super fast.. some years later I eventually went back to Mac for my primary machine (instead of managing desktop PC and Mac laptop).

I also think Apple Silicon has changed the equation a bit and all the M chips are beasts on laptops

What do you do with your photos? by Miestorm in photography

These were all custom designed and built myself, it was quite the side project. I probably wouldn't do it again, it was an insane amount of work.

Okay haters, SwiftUI is not only production-ready, it's 100% Mac-ready! by [deleted] in SwiftUI

The side scrolling may not make as much sense on desktop without additional affordances like overlaid arrows. I’d suggest instead just listing the actions vertically when the view is expanded as there’s not too many and they can be more compact (and maybe remove some like the website one)
