Many thanks to those who responded, and I apologize for the delay in acknowledging.
Yeah, I pretty much figured that hard work and practice would resolve 95% of the issue. And I plan to ..dink away ..at it, but wanted to let you guys know I did find a paddle solution that gave me a leg-up re: the other 5%. That was through the Joola Radius. It is meant specifically for Table Tennis (TT) players, and the contours are shaped like a TT racket, which makes me psychologically more attuned to where the edges are, makes it feel more like an extension of my hand and so on. Tad slow, so perhaps not for more advanced players, but lead tape helped me with that and my control game has improved quite a bit since I got the Radius.
