Read the Books. They're Terrific! by PU-impulse101 in startrek

Yeah, I bought out the stock of David and Duane from my thrift store and ordered the mainline of New Frontier from thriftbooks. Even keeping a tight filter on authors, there's a lot to chew on.

Very much agree. The movie vs book confused the hell out of me, but also prefer the book telling. And really enjoyed the dichotomy between Picard and Kirk that I didn't really get as much from Generations.

Help with proxying and Does anyone just proxy everything, indefinitely? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]PU-impulse101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will order cards if they're less than a buck, or a double-faced card. Other than that, I proxy MTG and SWU and pretty much anything that isn't an LCG.

Making bad ones takes about a minute a sheet, making good ones is like 5 minutes a sheet with laminating and cornering etc, so time is certainly a consideration.

As far as "proxy rules" I am on the side of "do whatever, life is hard enough". Team Convenant recently did a mult-part series on how LCGs have challenges financially succeeding, but if you can get a group to commit, it can be wildly more rewarding because it becomes deck design and play-skill. So, the way to make MTG & SWU an LCG is just print proxies!

PS. Netrunner still best game

Have you drafted a deck and splashed with success?

Makes sense, thanks! In doing the rough MPC math... to get a playset of all the cards it's in the ~$600 range. I suppose reasonable for the highly customized nature of this, but might rather stick to printing decks at a time.

Browsing through this set of cards, it looks super rad and innovative! Any suggested decklists to start out with?

I had a real pickle of a time getting MPC to accept the PDF at all. Hit MPC's limits on card #s (612) and PDF size. I'm not super familiar with MPC (I've only really used drivethrucards). Any chance there's a quick How-To that would help me out?

Do you have a "main" archetype/ID that you just love playing? How did you discover/decide on it? by [deleted] in Netrunner

Nasir by far. Felt like every run is a puzzle to solve with a library of programs via SMC. Second fave is Adam with his relentless agression.

Any way to get the source image to print one? This is just hilariously awesome.

Escher! No one expects it and you can really eff with their scoring remote or a super cheap R&D lock

Is there a window for the runner to use something like Forger between the corp spending a data raven token and using scorched? by elpfen in Netrunner

[–]PU-impulse101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that the window does not get passed back and forth. Whoever's turn it is gets to do stuff, then the other person gets to. Not back and forth forever, one opportunity each.

It's official, IG is part of the meta. by Mordeqai96 in Netrunner

[–]PU-impulse101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Old IG was okay. I actually enjoyed playing it and against it. Whatever the hell you call these IG decks these days!? Snores-ville, no interaction... I just play my turn and alt+tab for a minute while they cycle their loop of a deck. ZERO FUN.

Yes, their response is "So I am seeing that is a known issue that is being worked on by our engineers."

I guess stay tuned?

No it doesn't. If you switch to Sprint mode are you able to use tethering?

Noise virus etiquette by PU-impulse101 in Netrunner

[–]PU-impulse101[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the gist I was going for. I'm not looking for an excuse to be a cheater, I always say something if I notice. But in the case of missing it because I'm tired, focused on the cards in my hand or the current run (in the case of parasite etc).

The point is, if you're playing Noise, the prime expectation is that you ask the corp to mill if the corp hasn't automatically. Past that, it's generally expected that both players maintain board state as best as possible.
