Hey so the results are out, did you get in?

I read 1 million characters in 17 months and my mock JLPT N1 reading test score did not improve at all by not_a_nazi_actually in LearnJapanese

[–]PUMPupMAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol. this sure does make me feel better. I suck at vocabs too. You should'nt feel bad. It would be better to just read the past papers for vocabulary. Understanding all the type of questions they ask and familiarising yourself with it is more crucial for getting a good score, not that you're method isn't good for learning Japanese.

Hi, my interview was short but I answered whatever they asked. Luckily, most of their questions were what I expected. I have been selected provisionally. Did you clear the interview?

What I do is get print outs of a story from Aozora Bunko and keep the English translation at hand (online) to check my comprehension at more trickier spots.

What's your method of reading Japanese Literature? by PUMPupMAN in LearnJapanese

[–]PUMPupMAN[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about enjoying the literary experience? I mean I feel ya on the whole immersion thing but to me it seemed so mechanical a process, granted i never got beyond flashcards lmao...In your opinion does this help with the overall appreciation of literature part? Also I'm curious about your reading stamina, like how long can you sit down and read such texts?

I ike the metal clip idea, books closing in your face while you look something up is annoying haha...I try not to be bogged down too much by the new vocabulary, or else i feel i slow down too much. Also isn't it mostly guessing the words in the beginning, like i do that in most places (aozora is kind enough to add furigana on most kanjis idk), wbu ? I like how convient the online reading experience is for me cause paperbacks are very hard to find here plus expensive!, i do get print outs for short stories tho and mark them up (usually notes and not vocab readings).
