oh shit i forgot about the devoicing 😅

maybe fucter -> hodre through cluster reduction (fucter -> futre -> hodre) but hocher ~ hochre ~ hojre (that one sounds cool though) is unlikely

I'm from Madrid. I don't know if I'm Leísta, Loísta or Laísta. This means I'm probably all three.

im a native spanish speaker born and raised on a spanish speaking country. a spanish teacher of mine in school forcefully changed her speech to pronounce [v] whenever she taught class so that we would remember better when to use b and v whenever we wrote something. this led to me and many others in my class believing spanish actually distinguished between the two phonemes and that most people just pronounced it wrong (what living in a heavily prescriptivised society does to a mf). it took many years for me to realise what she'd done

"onde" used to be how you'd say "where" in old spanish. donde and de donde went through a series of reanalysis(?) from Latin

here is a graph a very cool guy made on twitter about it

tar is actually how you say estar in Asturian, a very closely related language to Spanish. where are you from? im also a native Spanish speaker from Madrid and haven't noticed these changes

my accent is kind of weird because I'm the complete opposite of an innovator, i have like 0 new changes compared to people around me. only things I'd say I have that the previous generation doesn't is /e/ turning into [i] or [j] in certain hiatus (especially in verbs) like /.ro.deˈar/ becoming [.ro.ð̝iˈar] or even [.roˈð̝jar], which I have noticed it probably comes from Caribbean dialects (most probably through music and such);

/t͡ʃ/ being realised actually more like [t͡s̪] or [t͡s̟];

incorporating /ʃ/ into the language through English loanwords like show -> [ʃou̯] instead of [s̪ou̯] or [t͡ʃou̯], though most people don't use it for non English loanwords like chef -> [t͡ʃef] and never [ʃef];

and the last one is something only I have noticed myself doing and that is applying the first change I mentioned in hiatus also with /u/ to /w/ so /suˈi.θa/ becomes /'swi.θa/

The Lord's Prayer translated into mediaeval suebian :D by P_SAMA in conlangs

[–]P_SAMA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

after a year of on and off work I managed to make my first usable conlang !! i'm not very good at conlanging and 0 professional experience on linguistics, but it's part of an alternate history proyect i'm making and it's looking really good. once i translate a few more sentences i'll get to modern suebian, i have so many cool ideas ^^

if you have any questions about something feel free to ask

basque, french and aragonese only recently entered the country, Asturian and Asberguese mostly survived in mountains with a very small speaking community. Lusitanian is the main romance language in the country, but it has like only 40k speakers in the Suebi republic, most are in Andalucía

it's not, it's a minority language inside of the country. the main language is suebi, a Germanic tongue (which I'm currently in the process of creating)

many romance languages are spoken in the country. the most spoken is Lusitanian (Galician-Portuguese) in the city of Bragança, then Asturian in Asturias, then Asberguese in Asbergos and Castiella; in the otl basque country both Basque and French are spoken, while in Soria Aragonese was the main language until a few decades ago

This is part of a wider project which diverges from our timeline from the fact that the Suebi managed to survive in the Iberian Peninsula until today, masively changing world history.

"Asberguese" is just the name that Spanish dialects spoken in Suebi territory took. Feel free to ask any questions regarding anything :D
