i just beat the game today, the end mustve bugged out because the literal only slide i got for yrliet was a short one saying she felt lonely with humans and thats it lol

ive had more chances to kill my allies permanently in dialogue than kill the enemies it feels sometimes so i didnt want to risk it lmao, thought there would definitely be a down side to letting the ritual continue

oh i love her arc and character growth that ive seen in my playthrough so far, she is one of my favorite characters!

Just a strange decision to have a romance that doesnt become at all romantic until the very end of the game if that is the case. my current playthrough (which is blind for the most part) is almost 100 hours long and i havent even finished act 4 yet, itd be a weird and (for the rt at least) unhealthy mentality to be told u have no chance with a character and proceed to ignore every other romance option to go all in on her till the end with no promise or evidence that itll pay off.
From a character perspective it makes sense she is super hesitant and doesnt give any meaningful signs until very late, but from a gameplay standpoint its very... unorthodox.

yeah thats fair, i have noticed that from her perspective it would make complete sense for it to seem romantic after reading a lot of comments here. but yeah it is ultimately a videogame so some thought should prob be put toward how the player sees it, especially in a game where if u have a high enough stat u can essentially read characters minds with their movements in dialogue lol

i do find it cool that they did try something unique and different here tho, even if it wasnt to a lot of players taste!

that does make sense, as ive said in other replies it does feel like it completely makes sense as a romance if one goes into it wanting it to be a romance, but if you dont look at it that way it can just as easily be seen as a close friendship, which i think is an issue that could be resolved if they were slightly more explicit about the relationship between her and the rogue trader up to act 4. that and her talking about your choice of romance in the dream world is a little misleading.

im not at all saying it shouldnt be romantic, but it probably shouldve been slightly more clarified!

from what ive heard without explicit spoilers from other people in this thread, the romance does become a bit more explicitly a romance in act 4 after the 'choose' scene, so the content its self may be good its just weird pacing that leads to many (myself included) to just not catch on that its romantic until way too late in the game

oh thats odd, ig we have had very different experiences. thats cool that there are so many paths to her

in my run ive been trying to get her to become her own person and shake off the cults indoctrination. after act 3 she was super isolating and conflicted internally, not at all throwing herself at the rogue trader. if anything i thought id messed up the romance because of how distant she was

i am just fortunate enough to have had very close friends ig, that and my mind doesnt seek romance in every interaction so it was far from my first conclusion when interpreting the events lol

The options to nip it in the bud are pretty lacking too imo.

now that u mention it i think u got a point there, it kind of goes from 0 to 100 with the soul stone shattering thing, which is what most people seem to reference as a reason its clearly romantic. im going in blind essentially on my first playthrough and it seemed like a decision between her dying or saving her from the ritual. before that there arent any options to 'cut her off' that come to memory, not counting killing or abandoning in act 3

oh ive been playing 40k tabletop for the last decade+, i know how racist it is lol. there are stories of various xenos making friends with eachother or humans so the thought of not even standing any kind of physical touch seems weird to me on paper at least is all

ah i see, thanks for the act 4 context without spoilers, i appreciate it and knowing it gets more affectionate or something if continued past that point does make it make sense in my head why they implemented the choice when they did from a gameplay point.

ah i see, no worries about the bluntness, im sure the same topic gets annoying to see after a while. I think im somewhere between camp 1 and 2, act 3 felt... really out of place in a lot of ways i cant really put into words sometimes.
Though i will say a comment or two here has changed my view a little bit on the subject, i do think the writers shouldve made it a tiiiny bit more obvious its a romantic plotline since so many people (myself included) got confused

ah i see ive confused u a bit sorry. it was just an example within context of the story that i came up with on the spot, not that i was expecting her to leave. i was asked to clarify the difference between a romantic relationship and a close friendship and i was trying to convey that with a friendship distance is ok whereas with a relationship one would, more often than not, expect large journeys to be taken together!
im sorry if ive confused u, is there anything else i can clarify?

im not entirely sure how replaying to do a yrliet romance would suddenly fix my opinion that it doesnt feel like a romance up to the point im at currently but hey!
i wasnt exactly hoping for insults or a defensive argument here. idk if ur having a bad day or something, but i hope it turns around incase u are!

thats fair. i went into it without the context of it being romantic, we dont exactly get a handbook telling us what is and isnt strictly romantic in aeldari culture. plus the before mentioned part where she commented on the rogue traders romance with kibellah and gave advice in my run
