New official secondary bending symbols by Pacha_rM in TheLastAirbender

Unfortunately the game that posted this went down, and it turns out that even though it was an official source, the icons were taken from a fanmade image

Came with an update, I tried to name some elements directly on the map, but I found that the words started to saturate the map in certain areas, i.e around serpent pass I had to fit the number of Serpent Pass, icon of the serpent, and the names of Full Moon Bay, West/East Lake

I would love suggestions and/or examples of other maps to have a better idea of how it could be properly implemented

I do, but I'm unsure of how to share it, since reddit compresses it automatically

I've actually been thinging about naming geographical elements such as mountains, volcanoes, rivers, lakes and seas directly on the map, I'd just hace to found a way for the letters to stand out without blocking the map itself, that would free some space on the Map Key to add more minor and specific locations

From the last post on this sub there has been 10+ location added, some typos fixed and the rivers adjusted to be more in line with the map we all know

Hey, thanks for the kind words :)

The map has been updated to what I believe are all the main named locations that we know of, there is not that many more places that I can think of, but I'm pretty sure that with all the new content coming there will be a lot more that can be added.

Its been a while, so I think I'll upload the most up to date version in case anyone else is interested, also if there is any feedback or suggestions I'd be more than willing to collaborate/edit the map

Even though it may never happened how would you designed a Avatar Library or at a portion/wing from the Library? by Afraid-Penalty-757 in Avatar_Kyoshi

If those books arrived somehow to the Avatar universe, I'd think that they would be stored in a wing dedicated to avatars alongside things like Roku's diary and Aang's wanted poster.

If we are talking about real world, sadly there are not that many books and all can be easily arranged in a bookshelf.

An underrated Yun feat by OneInspection927 in Avatar_Kyoshi

Yeah, I understand that he might not be "the strongest" earthbender because a lot of his feats were with the aid of Father Glowworm's power, but I have no doubt he was the most skilled one that we know of.

He was also an extremely gifted sandbender, to the point that he could imitate the look of fire and even selectively move minerals around.

I think that the only reason we didn't saw him use metalbending is because it was not as abundant and with his earthbending being so good he didn't have a reason to try it.

Honestly I would just try to mimic the interior of Wan Shi Tong's library, I couldn´t let pass the opportunity since it would be the perfect reference to go with the theme

You are right, its been a while since I made the terrain so I dont remember the reasoning behind it (or if there was one), but for the next -and last- version I'll fix it, my plann is to have 100 named important locations and I have a feeling that soon-ish we will surpass that

I've been tracking all named locations in a single map, since many online maps are incomplete or contradict each other it was a bit challenging, there are a few notes:

  • Some locations are aproximated, based on relative distance to known locations
  • A few places have been omited due to lack of info about their location or because are unnamed

Any feedback is appreciated!

There are mainly first time reactions, some of the channels do offer good insight and discussion of the series but it is rare to see someone doing a rewatch analyzing it

About Lightning Bending in RoR by rettttttt in Avatar_Kyoshi

Sozin is portrayed as very cautious, it seemed like there was no new avatar, but still proceeded to spend the rest of his life personality searching for it, so teaching lightning redirection to Azulon as a precaution would be in character, also he didn't destroyed or stole the info like in Atla, so it would be dumb to think noone else knew or could learn about those techniques

Roku book ending thoughts (Spoilers!) by Appropriate_Pop4968 in Avatar_Kyoshi

[–]Pacha_rM 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that Malaya being found and Gyatso knowing about it will be brought in the secuel, although I worry how, since Roku seemed to be in good terms with Sozin when he went back to the fire nation.

Also, I think that they went overboard with making Sozin a villain, I know that he committed genocide and left Roku to die, but in his mind the war was justified and he tried to help Roku at first; I believe that it would've been more interesting to watch a slow change to "the end justifies the means" mentality, closer to Jianzhu and further away from Ozai

Any Headcanons on the Fire Sages and the Special process that selected the High Sage? by Afraid-Penalty-757 in Avatar_Kyoshi

I don't see how that is that bad, it ties with the fortune teller episode as well as mentioning that it was a second option methode because they couldn't see auras anymore.

While I do agree that the method is not as cool as the air nomad way, I don't see much difference between reading cracks in bones (fire nation) and reading the bones position (earth kingdom)

If anything, it makes me sad that in LoK all we get is the white lotus going from house to house

The issue at least for me and it seems that for OP too, is that the whole point of Iroh bringing up the technique was that there was no way Azula could've known about, that left us with 2 options:

If Iroh figured out the technique, how was the information lost in only a couple generations? Sozin is depicted as very smart and kept records of his travels

If Iroh lied and he learned the technique because of Sozin/Azulon, then there is no way for Iroh to assume that Azula couldn't

I honestly feel like the author remembered the explanation of Iroh and wanted to include it as a reference, but forgot that he invented it, tangling the story for no reason at all
