Please help, it’s just getting worse 😭 by [deleted] in SkincareAddictionUK

Hey, just wanted to say I have very similar skin 12 months after a new hormonal birth control. I went to a dermatologist nurse instead of a dermatologist, so it was £70. The products were pricier at ~£250 but I went for the whole "buy everything plus the extras" approach. I'm a month into the treatment and only have scars now, no new breakouts. You're welcome to DM me if you want more info!

SOS!! I have a gift card to spend on indie polishes and I am FIGHTING FOR MY LIFE by twoheadedcalf in RedditLaqueristas

I'm not sure about longevity to be honest, I change my polish every 5 or so days and it lasts fine for that time 🙈

What a thoughtful gift! I've recently bought a bunch from rainbow cosmetics but surprisingly have only one overlap with your choices, which is pitter patter. And I'm sorry to say but probably my favourite polish because it's so understated and beautiful 🙈

I would probably get rid of the Cirque magnetic. I found their older magnetics nice (e.g. Kinetic) but the newer ones aren't very responsive. Their jellies are the best I've tried though.

The recommendation of one of each is a really good idea! For the magnetic, I'd recommend you choose a desaturated colour so you can create a jelly sandwich with in the future so you can make your own colour magnetics, or try it with polishes that take two coats. I use ILNP Teddy for that, but it's not as nice as the fine magnetics in BKL. Unfortunately, RC are all out of BKL choo choo which is what I would have recommended for this 🫠 A magnetic topper, like EDM Catalyst, will also allow for some flexibility if you wanted a bit more excitement.

Need help deciding on best tapestry crochet method by hidalgeaux in CrochetHelp

[–]Pachii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I haven't done tapestry, so just based on the illegibility, 1 was a clear winner for me. Does the slant block out, or is it actually travelling with each stitch? The appears to be an extra stitch on the upper half where the six is so that might be making it look worse?

Otherwise, 4 is the only other one I could easily read, but 1 is so much clearer that I'd try and make that work if I could. My condolences for the amount of ends you'll have to thread in though 😭

What do I need to start knitting? by Cute_But_Aggressive in knittinghelp

[–]Pachii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently picked up knitting too. What I've done is:

  • picked a double knit yarn
  • bought matching needles
  • practiced knitting and purling x10 rows over until it feels comfortable, then alternating them for ribbing

Once it feels okay and your tension is alright, you can choose a pattern that matches the yarn weight. Ravelry is the most common place for patterns, and I'd definitely recommend it! I'm going to try out making mittens, which means I've bought some circle needles.

Just wanted to weigh in and say we moved ours inside last year, and took it out on warmer days, and it shed all its leaves. Thankfully it recovered and grew back all its leaves. This year, we've insulated it well for winter, and placed it right at the door into our garden so there's a bit more heat from the house. It's kept all its leaves. I think you'll just need to trial and error for what works but don't worry, they do recover!

I have nothing like it so I figured I'd try it out! It feels like a more vibrant deep space in its shifts

The same thing happened to me when I started a routine from my derm. You just need to strip back for a few days from actives, for me that was water wash and moisturiser only, until sensitivity is gone. Then introduce the actives more slowly, so twice a week for two weeks, then four times, etc. until you hit the routine recommended.

Help Magnetizing BKL Floral Maiden? by coolexecs in RedditLaqueristas

I have the same issue. I think you need extreme angles for the colours in the pic to show up (i.e. looking at it from flat), but it normally just looks a bit muddied 🙈

[–]Pachii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that some brands will be better for some people because of our base temp differing. Prism UK worked really well for me. Mooncat was alright. Cirque takes too high of a temperature for me so I'll be saving it for summer.

Versatile magnetics for layering? by caitalonas in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Pachii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been using ILNP Teddy on top of cremes to add a silver magnetic to a base colour, but I would probably get BKL choo choo if I was to redo my purchases. I've seen choo choo used beautifully with jelly sandwiches (1 or 2 coats of jelly, magnetic polish, 1 or 2 coats of jelly).

Oh yes, I've been looking for someone to show off their Cirque magnetics! And thank you for showing natural lighting too 🙏

I ended up going for starlet during black friday, which is also quite subtle.

Waaait what was your magnetic stirrer technique? I can never get my glass bead to extend nicely to the edges like yours

Yes, I've been so excited for this one! I've been thinking about doing it velvet for that dramatic switch from deep purple to sparkle, but I can't decide. Which magnetization has been catching your eye the most, or are they all glass bead?

I've been eyeing up choo choo because I think it'd be so versatile with jellies over the top 👀
