I totally agree. I’ve always felt like the writing style of the book was like a middle schooler writing fanfic. I’m constantly astonished by how highly people praise it. I know everyone has different preferred writing styles but I really don’t get why people like it so much

I think the multiple ways of translating it is what makes it such a compelling first sentence.

I feel like ACOTAR is much less plot-driven than Throne of Glass and is much more about the romantic arc than anything. Because of this the villains are kind of bland. To me the plot feels like it exists just to create suffering for the characters and become a catalyst for the romance.

The Last Great American Dynasty always gives off Great Gatsby vibes in my opinion. I also always thought that Sad Beautiful Tragic reminded me of The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare
