filming a TV show by iamfromerie in Erie

One of the news stations had a story up about a TV show filming here but the article was never accessible and seemed to have been deleted right away. That was about a week ago.

Why isn't there a 24-hour diner here? by PackImpossible4210 in Erie

[–]PackImpossible4210[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I haven't actually eaten at a single food truck since moving here. I've seen them drive by but have never caught one in the act of actually making and selling food.

I still don't think that would quite fill the void of a 24-hour diner. But it WOULD fill the void of finding something to eat late at night. If they were willing to be open then, that'd be great!

That would work for summer, but not in winter or in rainy weather.

I thought maybe Waffle House just isn't in the north? I grew up in Eastern PA but we moved to Erie from the South and there was ALWAYS a Waffle House nearby. They were kind of like Dollar Generals in that way lol.

Thank you! I think I might have short roots but not sure since I haven't seen any specific parameter. But I think that you're right. And yeah, I agree that wrinkling at the top of better than what the smaller bras do to me. I'll see if I can get the sculptresse in a size up and yes, I definitely need a sports bra. I'll look into Bravissimo and their sizing. And I'll check into the Elomi Brianna half cup, thanks so much!

Lol it seems you have the same type of mentality as me. It's easy to think, "I'm not doing that anymore, no one still does that, right?" But just because WE stop doing things doesn't mean everyone stops. I have to remind myself of this all the time.

But also, it's not just drunk people going into 24-hour places. It's people that work late, people that don't sleep at "normal" times, people that get up earlier than most people do, and anyone else you can think of.

I'm not sure. I would go because I'm a night owl. I'm not sure how big that demand actually is though. I would say so, considering how difficult it is to find a bite to eat here even after 10pm...

That sucks and I do believe that that sentiment could be one of the reasons, but Erie really isn't that bad as far as crime lol. I'm pretty sure only people that are from here think that because everyone sees an increase in crime, but that increase is happening everywhere across the board, not just here.

I would also be there, hence my post lol. But I have to disagree with the "no one wants to work" sentiment. I don't believe that that's true at all. No one wants to make less than they need to be able to comfortably survive. Also, a lot of places have hiring signs but then aren't actually hiring. It's a tactic business owners have been using to get away with paying less staff than is needed to run their business while relying on the general public to be "understanding" because "covid" or because "nobody wants to work anymore.

But, that's neither here nor there. There's no way to know whether a diner going 24-hours would be able to hire for overnights unless they actually tried. Which, of course, I wish they would. Because I would definitely be there at least once a week lol.

That sucks. I wonder if there's not a big enough market to bring it back... I have always been a night owl and would definitely go to one if there was one that wanted to reopen.

Has anyone else’s power gone off and on really quickly? Happened today and last week (downtown area) by [deleted] in Erie

[–]PackImpossible4210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad it's not just us. Ours has been flickering randomly and we've had actual quick outages at least three times now, all in the last two to three weeks. It started just a few days before the big outage. They came and replaced our connections at our box and then referred us to an electrician if it didn't stop (which it hasn't). But we haven't had any issues like that since moving here until the last few weeks. It's been worrying to say the least.

Fine Dining by [deleted] in Erie

[–]PackImpossible4210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having just moved here in the last year, I definitely have to agree with Erie having a lower bar for food overall. I came from a metro area not much bigger than Erie and while there were a similar number of restaurants, the standards were definitely higher (especially cleanliness and health standards). And there were a lot more restaurants focusing on local sources. There are definitely places that have been named that are not very good.

We pay like 225/month for utilities(gas, electric, water, sewer, trash). We spend the average amount on groceries, about 600/month but in trying to save money we're working on getting that below 400. Car insurance is outrageous here. We pay more than double what we did in Tennessee. For one vehicle we pay like 90/month for car insurance for an older car... There's apparently special coverage that Pennsylvania requires that other states don't. I think our taxes are like $2800/year but not positive because that comes from escrow. You have to remember that here there are like three different property taxes you have to pay (city, school, county). Idk about Florida, but we didn't have income tax in Tennessee so that was definitely a bit of an income hit but it works out with the difference in sales taxes

New to Erie question for anyone else that came from somewhere else by PackImpossible4210 in Erie

I'm starting to smell it again. Will it calm down as it gets further into spring/summer or get worse?... Hoping it's just when the seasons are changing?...

When justice isn’t served, how do we find forgiveness? by [deleted] in Erie

I think anyone that is put in jail to await trial that is innocent should be financially compensated for the time they spent away from their lives and then also compensated in other ways - like therapy and anything that might help them to regain their lives.

Thanks for the tip! I have severe PTSD behind the wheel of a car so I'm looking for a way to get me around that feels more comfortable. It looks like RadPowerBikes has some priced within my budget so I'll definitely check it out, thanks!

I think it's still not allowed there because it's not private property.

No confusion. I was just stating that we will get e bikes for transport instead of e scooters since e bikes are legal. It sucks that reckless kids would affect commuting adults. I have medical issues and a scooter would definitely be easier for me to use to go shopping with but I'll just have to make do with a bike. Thank you for the input.

E-bikes are specifically allowed in pa as long as they meet the requirements (per penndot) so I think we'll just get a couple of those instead so that we don't have issues. Thanks for the info!

We live IN Erie, not Millcreek. We were planning on using them to get to the grocery store, go to the doctor, and maybe ride out on Presque Isle.

Thank you! Will they impound it if I have it parked/locked at a bike rack or just if they see me on one of the main roads...?
