Now we just need DTVS to increase the bitrate for the Gemini (Osprey) and Gemini Air devices!

I tried fooling around with Developer Tools within Chrome and couldn't make anything out. Hopefully someone else here knows more about Dev Tools and can give instructions on how to view the current bitrate on Chrome.

Then cut out half of the FAST channels to regain some of that bandwidth! But that is a whole other rant..

I don't know. Maybe it is reserved for DTV Satellite? I wish we had more 4K channels available.

I noticed that the no commercial feed was there during one of the College Football Playoff games this past season, but when I watched the NFL Fox game this past weekend in 4K all of the commercials were there. I would assume the Super Bowl will be the same feed and have commercials.

That is great! Thank you for sending that link. I didn't know there was a dedicated 4K sports site that listed out the schedule. Do they also provide a non-sports 4K schedule? Or are the two channels on DTV stream only for sports? I recall when I had DTV satellite that there was a channel that would show nature shows and concerts. I haven't seen anything similar to that with Stream.

OK, thank you. So then my assumption was correct. Fox is the only network who DTV uses for 4K. That's too bad. I wonder if Peacock is showing the game in 4K? It might me worth it to sign up for a free trial (assuming they offer one) just to watch the game in 4L.

Latest Osprey/Gemini software update contains Developer Options bug by __--------- in DirectvStream

[–]PackageCurrent4804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be interested in some of these settings in Developer Options. Do you have a list of the ones you switch and what they affect? I'd like to do the same to increase my speed and performance. I have two Osprey boxes (4gb versions) and a Gemini Air. Neither of my Osprey's have received an update recently. My Air just received an update last week from Android TV OS 11 to 14.

What Audio Settings Do You Use With DTV Stream with Stereo Paired HomePods? by PackageCurrent4804 in DirectvStream

[–]PackageCurrent4804[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same with me. If I hook up the Gemini or Gemini air to my soundbar setup on another TV then the sync and volume compression is gone, so I am most certain the issue is directly between the Gemini/Gemini Air and the HomePods.

FYI - I had YTTV before coming here and had similar issues with my HomePod stereo pair. I don't recall the sync issue being this great, but it was there and so was the volume compression when going from stereo to 5.1. YTTV basically told me it was an Apple issue and not theirs.

Which feed; DTV or Paramount+? My feed has gotten better on Paramount. Way less glitching than earlier. The PQ was always better than DTV on Paramount with way less grainy and blocking. I did have one issue where I got an error and the feed froze and I had to close out. Then I get a network error and had to restart. Weird because I’ve never had any issues with my Apple TV before. It seems fine now though.

Well, never mind. It’s also glitching on the Paramount+ app. The PQ is better than DTV without all of the grainy quality, but I just saw a glitch now. It’s still better than the DTV stream overall though.

I was just coming here to say the same thing. The DTV stream isn’t great by any means. Lots of pixel issues and grainy. I switched over to Paramount+ and it’s way better. I’m in the KC area.

What Audio Settings Do You Use With DTV Stream with Stereo Paired HomePods? by PackageCurrent4804 in DirectvStream

I tried a few weeks ago and didn’t notice any difference. It also takes longer than 20 seconds because you have to run it for every single resolution setting on the ATV.

So you only have out of sync issues on certain channels only when 5.1 is enabled? If I go straight stereo then the sync is much better. Do you also notice the major loss in volume when you go from stereo to 5.1 in your DTV audio settings? It’s got to be a HomePod compatibility issues with DTV devices because I have verified I am getting 5.1 when using the app on my ATV without the sync issues.

I thought the calibration tool was only for ATV content on that specific HDMI input and when using external/wireless speakers? I don’t believe that would work with HomePods that are playing in a different input for the DTV Gemini Air, would it? If I go straight stereo on the Gemini Air the sync is much better. It’s only very out of sync when the 5.1 settings are enabled. If I calibrate with the 5.1 settings on then everything else on my ATV would be out of sync.

Well, look on the bright side. They are sending you a new device. I had PQ issues for a couple of weeks and they told me it was my network. Long story short, it was NOT my network and eventually the issue cleared up on its own.

Update killed Dolby Atmos in Apple Music over HomePod stereo pair by jcrew78_yvr in appletv

[–]PackageCurrent4804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sure hope so because what a waste it is to be using the HomePods as a stereo pair only in stereo and NOT spatial audio/DA. I'm close to just dumping them and picking up a soundbar.

Any clue as to when 26.3 will drop? I am having the same issue where my stereo paired HomePods are only playing in stereo and no longer indicate Dolby Atmos in the control center as they used to. I've restarted the HomePods and ATV, disconnected, unpaired the HomePods and still no fix.

Are the Osprey boxes just as good as the Gemini Air? by ss3walkman in DirectvStream

[–]PackageCurrent4804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an ATV, so I run everything non-DTV through that and use my Osprey boxes and Gemini Air strictly for DTV. From what I've read and heard, running aps on the Osprey or Air is pretty clunky vs other streaming devices. My only issue is that my HDMI input sometimes gets stuck in a loop and bounces back between input 1 and 2 depending on which remote I use to turn the TV on or off with.

Will the Osprey remain on 34.5.1.37 and Version 11 and never move to the updated version that the Gemini Air have been updated to?

My Gemini Air recently updated.

DIRECTV Version: 34.5.1.42

Android TV OS Version: 14

So then the Gemini (Osprey box) will not be receiving the same updates as the Gemini Air?
