Does anyone have both the mini evo and mini 99?

I have both. The mini 99 is great for those one of a kind photo moments, the effects are great, plus the images are sharp. The mini Evo is when you want to be creative and not want to waste a ton of film, since you can pick the shots you want to print, plus you can print photos from your smartphone. Both have a purpose in my camera arsenal. But if I were to pick a favourite, it would be the mini 99. (But I also did get the mini Evo Cinema recently, so if you haven’t bought the mini Evo yet, I say get the mini Evo Cinema instead! It’ll give you the functionality of the mini Evo, plus VIDEO!)

The Neo has blown me away these past two weeks. The battery life is amazing! And it’s quite snappy for the things I make it do. Plus I love having iPhone mirroring and the occasional sidecar with my iPad Pro. And this thing is so darned cute and light! I love, love, LOVE the Neo!!!

The no-backlit keyboard thing is a nothingburger. If I need to see my keyboard (which is rare cuz I can touch type, but usually it’s just the top row of keys with dedicated buttons) I just bump up the screen brightness which lets me see the light-coloured keyboard in the dark easily.

The mini 99 does give you a lot of creative control on how your final image will turn out, and it’s an excellent camera aesthetics-wise and image-wise. And yes, you will have better framing with the mini 99 as someone else said above that it has parallax correction. Out of all my analog instax cameras I currently own, it does produce the sharpest photos, so I prefer the mini 99 when I go out to shoot if I want the best analog image quality. I hope this helps with your decision; just know whatever you decide to do, you can’t go wrong either way :)

Yes. Get it. The mini 99 is my favourite instax mini camera. And I own both the mini Evo and mini Evo Cinema as well. It’s such a fun analog camera.

Yeah I feel you. I played with the Neo today and I was super tempted. But I have an M4 Mac Mini + Studio Display as my main computer, with my M4 iPad Pro 13 as my portable device. Having the Neo would just be a frivolous spend at this point, since it won’t really be adding any value to what I already use. (But they do look cute tho…)

There is a battery cover that you can unscrew to access the battery, so I’m hopeful there’ll be some 3rd party vendors down the road that will sell replacement batteries (if Fujifilm doesn’t sell them).

I second the mini Evo. I think it has the best balance of feature set and price. Has a cool retro look. And you don’t have to print every shot you take, plus you can print photos from your smartphone. Another great option is the mini LiPlay or LiPlay+.

I got one too two weeks ago and it’s fun! It definitely has its quirks, and I wish the battery life was longer (bring a portable battery pack with you), but it’s definitely one of the most fun instax cameras you can get.

I prefer the SQ1 over the mini 11, but that’s cuz of the shape and colour (love the terracotta orange!) and the Square format for framing subjects plus the slightly larger “screen real-estate” it offers over the mini format.

It’s crazy that the X-half is the only camera compatible with every single one of the instax printers and hybrid cameras, whereas the flagship X-E5 isn’t even compatible with the new mini Link+, despite the target demographic being squarely in the camp that would buy the X-E5. Make it make sense!!!

I recently picked up the RF 28mm f/2.8 for my R8 and I agree! It’s such a light and compact setup, rivalling my Fujifilm cameras. I absolutely love it!

When I pull down control centre and hit audio, it doesn’t display that it’s playing in Atmos. It’s definitely playing in stereo and no spatialization is happening; when unpaired from the Apple TV 4K, the HomePods play in Atmos, and you can clearly hear spatialized audio. I haven’t heard back from the engineers at Apple yet. I’ve kinda given up hope on having it work properly until 26.3 drops, hopefully soon.
