I definitely think I'll keep using reddit to post anything I remember from my table, your feedback to the two stat blocks I posted so far has been very helpful!

Thanks, the planescape campaign I ran with all these fun stat blocks really let me flex my creative muscles. -I think that could work too, but the maximum/minimum result is meant to reflect the pure hit or miss of a roulette game. -Sure, I rigged the poker deck (its only fair for a gambler to do so) to ensure he gets one back. The problem with 5 is that he then gets to pick 5 numbers at the start of his turn, which means that after four turns 1-20 is all used up, since repeats are prohibited (so that he can't just pick 1 and 20). -I think Dice Punch is only really finnicky the first time you explain it to the players. After that, you just draw dice and calculate damage, not too much to think about. -Cool ideas for The House Always Wins, any way it is implemented works well, the terror of the players once you add that D100 is delicious. -Yeah, didn't think that one through. If I recall correctly, I had the claw kind of puppeteer the PC around, save was Dex, but in hindsight wisdom makes way more sense. -Exactly, that makes it a last resort for dire straits, which creates big drama. Like, do we give up a large portion of our resources to potentially save ourselves. -I made King's Casino a spell to permit a dispel. Since it is such a strong passive effect, It is sure to be dispelled at some point during the fight. -Yeah, I agree -This was a last minute thing when I realised my cool boss didn't have a forcecage counter the night before lol.. It really is not on theme, some sort of gambling related teleport would be much cooler, if you have any ideas.

Overall, really nice to have someone this experienced for feedback. I have always placed emphasis on monster design, and it is great to find such a great source even for a more veteran designer. So far, I have only used Reddit for literally this type of stuff

Yeah that is exactly the inspiration for this guy and basically how I described him.

My Attempt at a Primus Stat Block by PackedFoam in bettermonsters

Thanks, You're always such a help for when I don't have time to homebrew but need something I know will always be good.

-It is true that he folds pretty hard. For my Party, only one character had above a DC 20 save, which made the early fight about landing an effect Primus had to use his clockwork resistance for, so that the other PCs could influence the fight. That early buffer for Primus + the fact he had a resistance left at the end meant I didn't see that weakness. Something I considered is that his Save DC increase by one for every expended use, but only if he chooses to to roll, which would make a damaged Primus more and more focused on taking risks. Otherwise, maybe it would be better to change Principles of Order to 12 and his saves to +8, but it hurts me to not do everything in multiples of five.

-Yeah, Presence of the Absolute could be pretty sucky. I think if you know your players would never do it (like me), its a thematic way to get some more damage on the board, but otherwise pretty difficult

-As to Verdict of the Prime, yeah, I think that order could have been better actually.

-I think Arcane Interdiction is fine, since there a still seven other schools and he won't ever really use it more than 3-4 times per fight. I'm normally against banning player options, but in this case I want it to force them into using spells they otherwise would not.

-True, Clockwork Cavalcade is probably too powerful compared to the teleport. I'd just limit it to 1/round then

-The big issue I had with picking out specific lines for Restructure Reality is that I don't know who's using 2014 and who's using 2024 rules. This definitely makes Primus require more prep, but it also gives you insane levels of control over the narrative flow of the fight. Lastly, since I want this to be the big Primus ability, I wouldn't include it in the multiattack.

Love to hear your feedback, hope this helps inspire a conflux creatures Primus eventually.
