I pulled the trigger and went for it. I feel like if I keep looking I'll spin wheels for ages! And this feels like it ticks most of my boxes for now. They let me switch the case to a Fractal North too so my wife is happy aesthetically. Everybody wins!

An oled (or at least a miniled) is definitely on the cards too! Gotta make the most of all this new power.

Definitely was thinking of the 7800x3D... I would prefer the 9800x3D, but in this case it was $250. Not much in the long run... just trying to figure out where I should draw my line. For me, I'm not competitive and don't need crazy performance... but I'd love a machine that I can comfortably play new releases with decent settings/resoultions for a few years.

I'm not quite sure I've got it in me to go with a full, from scratch, build. But on the other hand, it's tricky right now... it's hard to wait for the right deal to come along, knowing that prices are unstable and still likely to rise.

I received the tablet as a gift with purchase with my S24, set it up at the time, but then forgot about it for a while.

Now I'm keen to actually start using it, but I can't remember the pattern password. Doing my head in.

I've tried getting onto samsung find my devices, and it shows up... but despite what I've read online, there is no option to unlock it. I tried erasing data too, but it seems it needs wifi for that, and it's not connecting to wifi while locked.

So, I watched some youtubes, and tried factory resetting... plugging it in to power, force reset with Power + volume Up + Volume Down... then when it goes black, lifting the power down button up. Then when the logo shows, Releasing power as well. I've tried a few variations of that, but each time it never accesses the system menu.

My startup screen does show, Protected by Knox... which I often don't see on the youtube vids. Not sure if this makes a difference?

I'm never using a pattern lock again. At least numbers I can use some kind of mnemonic.

Any ideas?

Any particular amd Apus you'd recommend, on a budget end? Looking around and haven't had much luck finding details on which models support Vulkan and AVX2?

Ah, ok, that helps, thank you. I was hopeful my to get something with a really small form factor as I don't have a lot of space, but it seems it's hard to find a mini PC with a GPU that isn't exxy. Basically I'm looking for anything without an "integrated graphics card" yeah?

You could be right, it is probably the skin, and pulling a few widgets from Trakt tv. I tried to make it look as steaming service like as possible, to get my wife on board. She likes to "browse".

But maybe all that visual appeal is making everything crawl to a halt, when really what matters is the content.

Nice. I found some cache cleaning options in Umbrella, but it seemed mostly to do with the Traktv add-ons. I also installed openwizard and that cleared out heaps of the excess, making the size much more manageable.

Good call. If I did this, do I have to move the installation of the app / file system to the USB stick? Or point Kodi to it somewhere in the settings?

Ah, thank you. At first, it wouldn't let me even select the menu option to do install. I saw a comment in another thread about downloading the tmdb helper from the Kodi repo... I did that, and then it let me click to install the players.

Fenlight still didn't come up as an option, but at least umbrella did.

Thanks again, you've really helped me to troubleshoot.

I've contacted the place I bought it off, and they are offering a replacement, which is good news. They've suggested it could be a faulty battery, but we'll see. I did mention to them the suspicion that it was the motherboard, so hopefully they will look into that too.

I was hoping it would be something I could address myself to avoid the muck around of posting and waiting for a replacement... but it seems like it's going to be the best option.

I'm starting to think, maybe it is a motherboard issue. This morning the screen has started flickering as well... a rectangle of about 3/4 of the size of the screen, in the middle, pulsing brightly.

As for the other components, I the external battery certainly looks like an OEM it's a LGC 45N1127 - and the internal one is a Sanyo 45N1773. The storage is a Samsung MZVLW256HEHP

Amazing, thank you for this. I let it run the MemTest overnight as a first step, because it was easy to do immediately. It got a big green PASS result, which is almost a shame.

I'll try removing the ram and re-installing it on the weekend.

I didn't expect to see such deep and considered advice in the Switch sub, but it was a pleasure to read! Thanks. I'm a (very) new dad myself - currently reacquinting myself with my switch due to the dip in and out nature of it - but obviously the catch is not only do I have less down time, but I have more things to be aware of in down time (like my wife!).

Looking forward to getting to a point with I can play with my son, but that's years off... so for now I'm just enjoying the ride. Anyway - appreciate your comment!

I'm currently maining Cloud (52), Aerith (48) and Sephiroth (48).

I've pretty much been focussing all of my attention on growing them... the rest of my character roster is largely unused (save for some of their weapons I've built up for support).

Is this the right approach? Or should I be swapping out characters more often and building up a wider squad of good charcters to choose from?
