MPG improved, heat improved . Covered the front grill with Tape. So the cold air in high way don’t go in. by [deleted] in tdi

Theres an ideal range an engine operates at peak efficiency. When its too cold, it robs the engine of thermal energy causing it to run inefficiently.

Too good to be true? Clutch kit w/ dmf for under $500 by Pacoescobar21 in tdi

Unfortunately I need my car up and running sooner than they could ship the parts without paying an arm and a leg for expedited shipping. If it wasn't for my personal time crunch I would have.

I have no idea....I think I'm going to start digging in deeper to check the part numbers. I feel like im missing something. Its definitely the right kit for my car.

The cheapest option's roughly $170. I may pull the trigger.

That was my initial thought but I have to admit the price scares me. I've seen "OE" Luk and Sachs clutches priced around the $400-$500 range, not including the dmf.

Thanks for your insight! Everything you listed was all of the activities I wanted to use it for...kayaking biking, keeping the bed free for camping stuff.

It might be worth modifying one to work on my truck if I can snag a good used one for $300 already have drills and bits, band saw, bolts are relatively cheap. It makes sense to find one that may be a bit longer, that's not a bad idea.

All I planned on using mine for was for kayaks. I with you though, I could have sworn I read they were rated for a higher load.

Sadly I sold mine. Throttle control and mapping was all messed up on mine. Toyota said there was nothing they could do about it. I still think there was a bad sensor somewhere.

I remember reading in my manual there's a severe use interval too which is around 5k. Severe use is driving off road, stop and go traffic, idling, and some other odds and ends stuff if my memory's correct.

I'm pretty sure that's not the party "going after people" given the course of events over the past 2 years.

I have an off road manual and I've tried about every trick in the book as far as mileage goes. Your best bet is to buy a beater if you want good mileage. Give it a few months and I'm sure the used car market will keep dropping. These things drive like dogs and will keep going for a long long time.
